Have you noticed this new sign? It is located on the north end of Oakland’s Main Street, on the corner by the Fire Hall? A Friends of Oakland Foundation Grant assisted in purchasing this new sign that not only says welcome to Oakland, but informs citizens of upcoming events. “Only community events may be added to the sign. It is not for advertising,” stated Sue Beckner of the Friends of Oakland Foundation and Chamber of Commerce. Examples of such events are Party in the Park, Swedish Festival, Fire Department Events, Church events, etc. “The sign is not for advertising, such as sales at businesses,” Beckner said. Contact the Oakland City Office to add an event to the sign.
