An Iowa University student, Samantha Goudie, arrested for trying to get onto the football field at Saturday’s game for public intoxication, tested .341, over four times the legal limit. She is being labeled “The World’s Drunkest College Student.” What is your opinion of this? Is drinking at college campuses out of hand?
I am a graduate of Northeast Community College with a degree in journalism. I am married to Jeff Gilliland. We have two grown children, Justin and Whitney and four grandchildren, Grayce, Grayhm, Charli and Penelope. I will be covering Lyons, Decatur, Bancroft and Rosalie and am hoping to expand my horizons as time progresses!

Goodness, no. Drinking is no more out of hand now than it was years ago… the main difference is we all hear about it more because of social media. This girl went out, had a great night, had some fun. No big deal. People need to relax about it. Especially since you can go downtown to any local drinking establishment in this area and see plenty of 40 and 50 year-olds acting like fools.
