We had a nice Grandparents Day potluck this past Sunday it was nice to see everyone here. Residents are looking forward to the Waffle Supper that is coming up on Thursday September 15th at 5:30 pm. Kick off time for Saturday September 17th Nebraska Football game is at 11:30 am on ABC. Next week we are celebrating fall with a Apple Jack Party on Thursday September 22nd at 2:30 pm. We have several residents celebrating birthdays this week and next, Jene Hightree on Sept. 16, Lorna Olson celebrates her 101st Birthday on September 19th and Dale Johnson on Sept. 24th.

Church Service for Sunday September 18th will be given by Craig/Alder Grove Church at 2:30 pm with a luncheon following. On Monday September 19th at 2:30 pm is Communion with First Lutheran Church.

Activities for the week of Sept 19th to Sept 24 th are as follows, Reading with Jill, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo the w/Salem, Reading Group, Bible Fellowship,   Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

This week Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica on Thursday August 11th at 2:30 pm. Then on Friday August 12th is Happy Hour from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.

Next week we have a resident celebrating a Birthday, Happy Birthday to Lois Anderson on Tuesday August 16th also that day we will be having a Lemonade stand party at 2:30 pm. Then on Thursday August 18th is our Monthly Waffle Supper for residents, family members, and friends, serving at 5:30 pm. On Saturday August 20th Rusty Buckets will be here to perform at 2:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday August 14th will be given by St. John’s Lutheran at 2:30 pm.

Activities for the week of Aug. 15th to Aug. 20th are as follows: reading with Jill, Manicures, reminiscing group, Sing a Long, Golden Oaks Potluck, Bingo with Salem, reading group, Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, crafty cooking, Bingo, Sat. morning video, Lawrence Welk.

It was nice to see everyone here last Friday night for the Ice Cream Social, we have such a good community that come together and help support Oakland Heights Activity department.. Next week on Monday August 1st at 2:30 pm is the Volunteer Ex. Meeting. We have a couple of residents celebrating birthdays this week Lavern Johnson on July 27th and Joan Price on July 31st.

Church Service for Sunday July 31st at 2:30 pm will be given by the Eilm Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday August 3rd is communion with Pastor Hoden at 1:00 pm.

Activities for the week of Aug. 1st to Aug. 6th are as follows, Reading with Jill, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo the w/WOW, Reading Group,   Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Had another nice weekend. On Monday June 13th we will be celebrating a 10 year employee anniversary for Christina Arnold, the party will be at 2:30 pm. On Tuesday June 14th we will be serving a Puttin on the Ritz Salad Luncheon for the residents at 11:30          am. Then on Thursday June 16th is the monthly Waffle Supper at 5:30 pm so come and enjoy dinner with your family member. Then on Saturday June 18th at 2:30 pm the Rusty Buckets will be here. We also have a resident celebrating a birthday next week, Happy Birthday to Iona Long on June 15th.

Church Service for Sunday June 12th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday June 14th is Catholic Mass at 9:30 am given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of June 13th to June 18th are as follows, Reading with Jill, Manicures, Sing a Long, Trivia , Bingo the w/Salem, Reading Group,   Bible Fellowship, Crafts, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

March has begun.  We have three birthday’s coming up this week Bertha Mellor, Don Haeffner and Karen Brand all on Sunday March 6th. Next week on Monday March 7th is our monthly Volunteer Executive meeting at 2:30 pm. On Tuesday March 8th will be a special Puttin on the Ritz grill out dinner for the residents serving grilled Hot dogs and Hamburgers at 11:30 am. On Thursday March 10th Charlie Davis will be here at 2:30 pm to play the Harmonica.

Church Service for Sunday March 6th at 2:30 pm will be given by the St. John Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday March 8th is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul at 9:30 am.

Activities for the week of March 7th to March 12th are as follows, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Coffee and Conversation, Bingo the w/Evang. Free,   Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, Lawrence Walk and Coffee Hour every day at 3:00 pm.

There are a couple of events this week I would like to mention on Thursday February 18th is our monthly Waffle Supper night at 5:30 pm. Then on Saturday February 20th the Rusty Buckets will be here to perform at 2:30 pm. We also have a special Birthday this week Wilma Neitzke turns 103 on February 20th. Next week on Tuesday February 23rd we will be serving root beer floats to the residents at 2:30 pm. Then on Thursday February 25th is the monthly General store for the residents from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Church Service for Sunday February 21st at 2:30 pm will be given by the United Methodist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday February 23rd at 9:30 am is Catholic mass given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of February 22nd to February 27th   are as follows, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Reminiscing group, Sing a Long, Bingo the w/Staff, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving; we will be having a Thanksgiving worship service on Wednesday November 25th at 2:30pm, then on Thursday Thanksgiving the residents will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving day dinner. Next week we start the month of December, we kick it off with our annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday December 4th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. So come on in and do a little holiday shopping.

Church Service for Sunday November 29th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday December 2nd at 1:00 pm is communion with Pastor Hoden.

Activities for the week of November 30th to December 5th   are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Reminiscing group, Sing A Long, Game Day, Bingo w/WOW, Reading Group, Bible fellowship, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Walk.

What a nice weekend for the Trick or Treaters, the residents had a good time at the Halloween party we had for them last Friday, the winner of the outside Halloween display contest was the North Star Volunteers with the Scary Bingo display, the runner up was the Skelton pirate display. We have moved in to a new month and the start of the Holiday Season is quickly approaching. Upcoming events for this week on Thursday November 5th at 2:30 pm we will be serving pumpkin donuts and apple cider. Next week on Monday November 9th the Roscoe Family will come and entertain at 2:30 pm. then on Thursday November 12th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica at 2:30 pm.

We have a couple of Birthdays coming up on November 4th Muriel Rabe, and on November 14th Pauline Loeffler celebrates her 103rd Birthday.

Church Service for Sunday November 8th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First United Methodist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday November 10th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass with Father Paul.

We have a fun week coming up, we have finished decorating outside in front of the building for a Halloween display contest, there are four teams consisting of Oakland Heights employees and North Star Volunteers. This week we have several fun activities, on Thursday the O-C Kindergarteners will come and sing for us at 2:00 pm. Then on Friday is the residents Halloween Party at 2:30 pm. And then on Saturday October 31st Halloween the residents will be handing out candy for any Trick or Treaters that would like to stop by. And don’t forget to set your clocks back this coming weekend.

Next week is the beginning of a new month and we start off on Monday November 2nd with the monthly volunteer executive meeting at 2:30. On Thursday November 5th at 2:30 pm we will be having special pumpkin treats and cider.

Next week there will be a special Puttin on the Ritz dinner for the residents on Tuesday October 20th at 11:30 am. There are a couple of birthdays coming up Margaret Benne on the 15th, Marcella Hennig on the 17th Happy Birthday to both.

Church Service for October 18th at 2:30 pm will be given by First Baptist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. Then on Monday October 19th is Communion with First Lutheran at 2:30 pm.

Activities for the week of October 19th to October 24th , are as followed,  Reading with Marilyn, Game Day, Sing a Long, Reading Group, Bingo w/Salem, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, General Store, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Nebraska Football, and Saturday morning movie.
