Lyons Decatur got off to a fast start in the 2013 Football season. On the second play of the season Alex Brehmer broke loose for a 47 yard TD run. The Cougar defense stopped Spalding/Spalding Academy’s initial drive at the two yard line. Brehmer ripped off a 76 yard scoring run and the Cougars never looked back in a 64-50 win over the Knights.
Brehmer had scoring runs of 47, 76, 55, 51, and 52 along with three scoring passes. Dakota Riecken caught two and Marcus Hegy reeled in the third.
Chevy Henneman also had a scoring run as the first half was ending.
Marcus Hegy played a big part in the 42-14 halftime lead enjoyed by the Cougars. He blocked a pass and had quarterback sacks in three straight series as LD-NE held S/SA to two scores in the first half.
