When did you first start growing your own foods and why? After getting sick, I started cutting chemicals out of my diet, Missed convenience food and started creating my own mixes to replace things that we had been buying a little over 6 years ago. By cutting the chemicals and toxins out of my diet my health improved tremendously. The Omaha World-Herald wrote an article about our spinach flour with a recipe in August 2010 and our mixes became a business.
How long have you been in business in Lyons? We opened our new commercial kitchen and store late June 2012.
What was your favorite food when you were a child? All foods were my favorite (except nuts and raisins). I have always loved trying new foods, new recipes and new restaurants.
What are your hobbies? Soup-N-More has become our hobby. We work our business 7 days a week. We are in a “constant state of change”. Our newest venture is adding a Winter CSA (community supported agriculture) to our schedule where we deliver our foods, as well as other local vendors to pick up points in Omaha two Saturdays a month during the non-farmer’s market season (November to April). I would like to write a book about changing your lifestyle based on how I changed mine. Already have the title “The 1-1-30 lifestyle”
What is your favorite time of day? Morning.
What is one of your favorite quotes? If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Play the piano.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Jesus Christ
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Hire the best attorney and accountant I could find.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? Scarlett O’Hara
What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to grow up and have a normal family. Then when I did grow up, I realized there is no normal…the abnormal is the normal.
