If you would like to give your opinion on what type of housing is most needed in Burt County AND have a chance to win some cash right before the holiday season, you are in luck! Information is currently being gathered to update the Burt County Housing Market Study. The study is being conducted by Hanna: Keelan Associates, a community development consultant group hired by Burt County Economic Development Corporation.
Lyons and Decatur residents will be receiving their surveys with their utility bills. All other county residents will be receiving their surveys directly through the mail. The surveys can then be returned by mail to the BCEDC office, or they can be dropped off at the City/Village office. Residents who fill out and return the survey will be entered into cash drawing of $50 in each of the communities and the rural area.
When the study is completed, it will give the county a five-year action plan to address housing needs at all levels. It will also match county housing needs with funding sources. A Housing Fair will be conducted for potential developers to be introduced to the housing opportunities in Burt County.
“Updated information and statistics that the housing study provides is necessary to have in order to apply for any housing grants,” said Patty Plugge, BCEDC Director. “The information is also extremely useful when applying for other types of grants and we will share this information with all of the city and county governments.”
The study is being funded by grants from Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, Tekamah Community Foundation, Black Hills Energy, Lyons Community Club and Burt County Economic Development Corporation.
