Lights Replaced on Tree

The tree north of the Veteran’s Building has been adorned with lights for the Christmas season for some years now, bringing the holiday spirit to the community.

Some of the lights were destroyed earlier this summer, according to Julie Johnson, owner of Nelson’s Food Pride in Oakland. “Some of the lights on the tree were broken, thrown to the ground and stepped on,” Julie stated.

Oakland Police Chief Dan Jacobs was not aware of the lights being broken until a considerable amount of time had passed. “I didn’t know about it until sometime later when I was in the grocery store. There wasn’t much that could be done then,” Dan stated.

No worries though, the lights have been replaced. The tree will light up the Christmas season again this year!
