The Lady Cougars won on the road and lost on the home court during the last week. The split brings their record to 2-4 going into the Holiday break. They are till looking for a win against East Husker Conference opponents.
On December 17 they travelled to Fremont to take on the (1-6)Bergan Knights. Northeast had a comfortable 23 to 12 half time lead and put the game away with 23 third quarter points. The final score was 60-24.
The Cougars had eight player put points in the book in the third period. Haley Bacon led the way with a trey and two free shots while Madie Ronnfeldt was close behind with 4 point on two goals.
Haley Bacon was Coach Cronin’s choice for the player of the game for Max Preps. The Senior forward ;had 10 points 2 assists, 3 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.
Brianne Haskell had twelve of her game-high 16 points in the first half. Vanessa Peterson chipped in with 11 points while having a team-leading 7rebounds.
The (5-3) Jaguars raced to a 42-14 half time lead as they won 73-36. Howell – Dodge had four in double figures. Guards Jill Rocheford . Breanne Brester, and Leah Grovijohn had 36 of their team’s points Center Emily Brichacek had 10. Rocheford was the top scorer with 15.
Vanessa Peterson led the Cougars with 10 points. Lexie Bacon came off the bench to score 8 points in the second half. She was named the S&W Player of the game for Northeast by 107.9The Bull radio station.
After a short break for Christmas the girls return to action on December 27. They will take on Scribner-Snyder in the Lyons-Decatur Holiday Tournament. In the other bracket is Emerson-Hubbard and Omaha Mercy.
