Dorothy M. (Gatzemeyer) Hingst, 69, of Wakefield, NE, passed away December 6, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Emerson. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Fresenious Medical Care Siouxland Dialysis. Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Emerson, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born November 28, 1944 to Alvie and Hazel (Stark) Gatzemeyer in Sioux City, IA. She attended high school in Emerson. On May 26, 1962 she married Rollan Hingst in Emerson, NE.

Dorothy had many passions including cooking, gardening, sewing and quilting. She enjoyed playing games, especially cards. Dorothy loved to spend time with family and was always able to put smiles on her grandchildren’s faces. She was blessed with the ability to communicate with and relate to people from all generations. Due to her zest for life, the dialysis community embraced her as a friend and a loving person.

She is survived by her husband, Rollan Hingst, daughters, Rendy (Mark) Hitz of Grapevine, TX and Cristy (John) Rardin of Olathe, KS; sister, Phyllis Todd of South Sioux City, NE; brother, Donny Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City, NE; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and two infant grandchildren.
