Lyle Anderson
LYLE L. ANDERSON, 82 years, of Lyons, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska.
Lyle was born April 21, 1931, at the Oakland Hospital to Leslie and Ellen (Seberg) Anderson. He attended grade school at District 17, Morningside and graduated from Lyons High school in 1948.
Lyle helped on the family farm as he was growing up. He was confirmed at the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland In 1947.
On March 6, 1952, Lyle and Anne Sundell were united in marriage in Hiawatha, Kansas. Shirley and Leonard Erickson drove Lyle and Anne to Hiawatha for the start of a new life and adventure as husband and wife, which lasted for 61 years. They started their married life in Omaha, Nebraska, where Lyle worked at the Armor Packing Plant and Ceco Steel. They returned to Oakland with two children. Lyle worked at Morrison and Quirk Hay Mill in Oakland and Tekamah. Lyle and Anne moved to Casper, Wyoming, with three children and brother, Butch, who helped with the move. (Janice Porter came to Casper and stole Butch away from his job working at the hay mill with Lyle.) Lyle also helped establish the Natrona Feed Products located at the Casper Airport.
Lyle leased his truck to National Trailer Convoy and worked as a nation-wide driver, even making a trip to the Alaska frontier over gravel roads. Anne was also hired by National Trailer, working as a dispatcher in Cheyenne. Anne left a message for Lyle with the company office asking him to call the new dispatcher in Cheyenne; he was surprised to learn that Anne was the new dispatcher. After many lonely years on the road, Lyle started his own business, Lyle’s Mobil Home Repair in Cheyenne. When Lyle and Anne retired, they became snowbirds going to Desert Hot Spring, CA. Due to ill health they moved back home to Lyons, Nebraska, to be near family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marianne; brother-in-law, Stanley Johnson and son, Lawrence Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Anne of Lyons; daughter, Pamela Stimson of Cheyenne, WY; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Teresa (Watson) of Topeka, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Robert Stromquist; brother and sister-in-law, Clair “Butch” and Janice (Porter) Anderson all of Oakland; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
