The Lady Cougars raised their record 6-11 as they had a two win and two loss week.  They had wins over (7-12) Cedar Bluffs  and (1-12) St. Edward.  Their losses came from (16-1) Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and (12-5) Stanton.

The Cougars got off to a good start with a 17 point first quarter against the Wildcats.  Tessie Collins, Lexie Bacon, and Haley Bacon gave the team a boost with three pointers at the end of the period.

After being down by as much as twelve points,  Cedar Bluffs worked their way back into the game as they trailed by 40-37 in the fourth quarter.

Haley Bacon started off the fourth quarter with a three point play.  Darcey Simonsen added another three point play and followed that with a goal and pair of free shots to build a 50-37 lead.  After the Wildcats scored twice the Cougars closed out the scoring with a 10-0 run  and claimed a 60-41 win.

Haley Bacon had 16 points to lead the team.

Facing a State rated C-2 team proved difficult for the Cougars as they fell to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 65-30.  The fifth rated Bulldogs were led by a Division  basketball scholarship athlete.  6′ 4″ Kaylee Jensen scored 39 game-high points.

“Our game strategy did not work too well,” said Coach Cronin. “We planned to let Jensen get her points and try to stop the rest of the team.  We hoped to keep them in the 40s, near what our offense scores.  We did not hold the rest of the team or score near our average.”

Brianne Haskell was the top Cougar with 14 points.  Abby Peterson had six rebounds.

Stanton rolled to a 40 to 17 half time lead behind the shooting of Becca Unger.  Unger had 21 points as she had 4 first half trifecta.

The Fillies picked up a 63-33 win.

The Cougars suffered as blow as leading scorer and point guard Brianne Haskell was injured in the first half.  She finished the game with just two points.

Haley Bacon and Kelley Wakeley led the team with 7 points.  Lexie Bacon had two threes for six points.
