“Lunacy!”
People are going crazy over questions about our Moon! Why do different full moons have different names, like frost moon, worm moon and blood moon? What is earth shine and why do we see it on the moon? Can you please again explain why the Moon goes through phases? And, can being tidally locked hurt my mental state?
For answers to these and other questions about our Moon, all are invited to Northeast Nebraska Astronomy Club (NENAC) Friday, April 4 at 8pm at the Lyons Library and Saturday, April 5 at 8pm at the Decatur Sears Center. There Pastor Gary Fugman will discuss many cultural and scientific aspects of our nearest neighbor in space, our Moon. Please bring your own questions to discuss as well. Free star charts will then be given and the constellations of spring will be displayed by computer.
Then, weather permitting at 9pm we will view constellations, the Moon, Jupiter, Mars and deep sky objects Friday from Bill Hedges’ Lost in Space Observatory in Lyons and Saturday from Fugman Observatory in Decatur. Please bring your telescope or binoculars to learn to observe these objects from your home. For more information on this and future NENAC presentations, call Pastor Gary Fugman at 349-1953 or google “nenacstars” and Keep Looking Up!
