HOLLIS BRUCE ANDERSON, 72 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at Oakland Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
Bruce was born on September 25, 1941, in Oakland to Hollis and Leila (Ekstrand) Anderson. He attended Oakland High School until taking over the family farm. He loved working and tinkering about the farm, however, his passion was gas engines. Each engine had a unique story to tell and he loved to share them.
In November 1966, Bruce married Roberta (Andersen) Anderson. To this union two daughters were born, Pamela Deon and Holly Marie. In September 1974, he married Ann Marie Johnson, together they had a daughter, Kathryn Marie. He enjoyed showing the girls the ways of the farm. Bruce was blessed with three grandchildren, Ryan Reppert, Jordyn Knobbe, Brody Huso. He showed them everything he knew about life and told his stories to make them smile.
Bruce drove school bus for Oakland/Craig Public Schools for several years until going to work at Superior Hybrids in North Bend until retiring, and yet he continued to help with the harvest season. Bruce loved life and would help anyone out at any time and expect nothing in return. He will be a man who is truly missed by everyone who knew him.
