Hassebrook Responds on Ricketts Running Mate Choice

This afternoon, Republican candidate for Governor Pete Ricketts announced that he picked current Lieutenant Governor, Lavon Heidemann, to be his running mate in the upcoming November election. Chuck Hassebrook has released the following statement in response:

“Mr. Ricketts’ made this choice because he needed to make up for his lack of knowledge about government, agriculture, and small town Nebraska. While Mr. Ricketts has spent his life in a corporate board room or in his family’s pro-baseball team’s stadium, I have been here working to create opportunity for all Nebraskans.

“I have spent my career fighting for ordinary Nebraskans as a Regent for the University of Nebraska and as the Executive Director for the Center of Rural Affairs. I am running for Governor to do more to create good jobs and genuine opportunity for every Nebraskan and a bright future for our state.

“I am currently working through a short list of potential running mates, and I look forward to announcing my choice later this summer. But I’ll tell you one thing – whoever I choose will be ready on day one to be a partner in making the changes necessary to get our state back on track, grow our economy, and create new opportunities for all Nebraskans to prosper.”

Just curious, how come there’s only stories and comments from Mr. Hassebrook on this site, but never anything from his opponent? Seems very biased and one sided. Would love to hear both candidates as we get ready to decide our new governor. Thanks in advance for your reply!

    • I do have something coming from Pete Ricketts about his choice for a running mate. It is slow getting to me, but it is coming. I am never biased as that is not how an true reporter does their job. Thank you for asking!

Ok, thanks so much! Wasn’t accusing you of bias, just seemed odd that nothing has ever been written about Ricketts is all, but a lot has been written about his opponent. Looking forward to seeing equal coverage on both candidates moving forward. Thanks for all you do!

    • Thank you for reading! I have even put in a request to meet Pete Ricketts….they said they would let me know if he was going to be in the area….so I am trying to do more, but it’s politics so who knows! He seems to be harder for me to get information from, but I am to get something hopefully today.

That would be great if he would sit down for an interview! Hopefully both of them would be able to so that we could get to know them a bit more! I’m sure you’re already aware of this, but the Ricketts campaign has all of their releases available to the public on his website. If they are being slow in getting information to you, I’m sure you can just use the releases on the site. Hope this helps!

    • Yes I did know about releases….I just got one a few minutes ago….they must have been running behind because I usually get them right away. Or maybe they forgot me. I intend to talk to Chuck too, and hopefully Pete. Time will tell. Thanks!
