James A. “Jim” Wiebold, 77, of Hooper NE, Formerly of Fremont NE


James A. “Jim” Wiebold, age 77, of Hooper, NE formerly Fremont, NE passed away Saturday Nov. 29, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, NE. Jim was born February 11, 1937 in Omaha to R.O. and Alberta (Farris) Wiebold.

As a very young child, he lived at North Bend, NE and then moved to Gibbon, NE until his junior year of high school, when he came to Fremont. He was a 1955 graduate of then St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Fremont. Jim married Sandra Toft on September 7, 1957 in Fremont. They lived in Fremont until moving to Hooper, NE in 2001. Jim worked at Jayhawk Boxes in Fremont for 44 years and two days, retiring in 2002 as plant superintendant.

Jim was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Life member of Knights of Columbus Council 1497 of Fremont.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sons, Brian Wiebold of Omaha, NE, Jamie Wiebold & wife Jane of Fremont and Martin Wiebold & wife Keri of Omaha, NE; daughters, Teresa Hansen of Bancroft, NE, Christina Moser & husband Gary of Omaha and Mary Larson & husband Dan of Fremont; sister, Barbara Davenport of Fremont; step mother-in-law, Rosamond McNabb of Tekamah, NE; 13 grandchildren, Joseph (Anne) Wiebold, Sara, Stephanie & Jennifer Wiebold, Nicole (Drew) Smith, Megan (Casey) Novak, Lauren, Eric & Abby Moser, Jameson (Emily) Wiebold, Emma Larson, Kaden & Kameron Wiebold; 7 great grandchildren, Parker & Tyson Wiebold, Ashlyn, Ava & Aiden Smith, Cason Novak and Sean Wakefield.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Johannsen; grandson, Jacob Wiebold; brothers-in-law, Duane Johannsen and John Davenport.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. David Belt will officiate. Vigil/Rosary Service 7 PM Tuesday with visitation on Tuesday from 3-8 PM and the family present to receive friends from 6-8 PM. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials may be given to the family for a fund that has yet to be established.

Byron Steele Morrow, 53, of Tekamah NE


BYRON STEELE MORROW, 53 years of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away November 24, 2014, at his home in Tekamah.

Byron was born to Walter and Elizabeth (Mahon) Morrow June 1, 1961 in San Bernardino, California.
During high school, he moved with his family to the Decatur area, and he graduated from Lyons High School in 1979.

Byron spent much of his working life driving truck for various employers in the area. He was an avid fisherman, spending two weeks a year in Canada.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Morrow.

Survivors include his three daughters and two granddaughters, Heather Morrow and Ryann Rodriguez, Amber Morrow, Ashley Stevens and Melody Capalite all of Tekamah; his father and stepmother, Walt and Patty Morrow of Lyons; two brothers, Tony Morrow of Seattle, WA and Tom Morrow of Phoenix, AZ; and one niece, Sarah Morrow of Seattle, WA.

DARREL LEE DRUHE was born June 20, 1947, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Donald and Mary Lou (Weeces) Druhe. He passed away at his home in Craig, Nebraska, at the age of 67 years.

Darrell graduated from Craig High School in 1965.

Darrell owned Woodcraft Cabinet Shop in Omaha for many years and was an expert craftsman. He also worked construction and was a truck driver. Darrel spent many years drag racing at Flightland Raceway in Omaha and Thunder Valley Speedway in Marian South Dakota. He spent many enjoyable hours at Roger’s Pumpkin Patch and Rog & Sue’s Retreat in Craig.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his two sisters, Linda Wickstrom, Kristie (Tom) Jensen all of Craig; brother-in-law, Marvin Wickstrom of Tekamah, NE; nephews and nieces, Brian (Linda) Wickstrom of Omaha, Michelle (Mitch) Case of Oakland, Dylan Jensen of Uehling, Hannah Jensen of Craig; great nephews and –nieces, Mason and Regan Wickstrom of Omaha and Braeden & Kyler Case of Oakland.

Darlene Rose Mavis, 85, of Wakefield, Nebraska passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Nebraska. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Wakefield, Nebraska; with Pastor Charity Potter officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, Nebraska.

Darlene was born April 23, 1929 in Lincoln, NE to Jerald and Lucille (Janousek) Hausner. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947. She married Robert E. Mavis on May 23, 1948 in Lincoln, NE. Darlene worked at Elgin Watch Company for many years, the Corner Café and enjoyed selling antiques and collectibles. Darlene was a faithful member of the Wakefield Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, and a member of the Women’s Group. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Nebraska Football fan. She enjoyed exercising, shopping for collectables, and square dancing. Darlene liked filling out crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. In the summer, Darlene loved to travel and go camping. Darlene loved this time of the year, especially when she spent it with her family.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Harlan) Waak of Lincoln, NE, Julie (Dale) Paulsen of Norfolk, NE; son, Robert (Linda) Mavis of Oakland, NE; sister; Sheryl (Jerry) Karst of LaGrange, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy Waak, Nathan Waak, Stuart Waak, Nolan Waak, Matthew Paulsen, Christopher Paulsen, Robert Mavis, Steven Mavis, Gwyn Lockett, great granddaughters, Abigail Paulsen, and Lyra Michelle Mavis.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, parents, sister, Geraldine (Dwayne) Carman, and brother, Bobby Hausner.

WILMA M. “BILLIE” KUHLMANN, 93 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah.

Billie was born May 27, 1921, in Tekamah, Nebraska, the daughter of Gilbert and Bessie Odella (Bowden) Erlewine. She attended Tekamah schools.

In 1953, Billie married Henry Kuhlmann, Jr. at Blair, Nebraska. They moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where Billie resided until entering Golden Living Center in Tekamah several years ago. Billie was a real people person and in addition to selling Avon products for several years, she also cashiered for businesses in the Sioux City area. She was a Red Cross volunteer and at one time was on the Woodbury County Red Cross Disaster Team. When she wasn’t busy working or volunteering, Billie enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Art and Edward Erlewine; sisters

Gerald William “Pugs” Larson, 88, of Uehling NE


GERALD WILLIAM “PUGS” LARSON, 88 years of Uehling, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by his family.

Gerald was born August 26, 1926, at home in rural Craig, Nebraska, to Harry C. and Helen E. (Koehler) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church of Swaburg, rural Hooper, Nebraska.

Gerald graduated from Uehling High School in 1943. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Donna Rickert at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.

Gerald loved his family and friends dearly. He never met a stranger. He loved farming, sports and traveling, but there was no place like home. He enjoyed small town life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harry Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Dave Bixler of Minnetonka, MN, Cindy and Dan Christensen of Austin, TX; sisters, Mary (Emery) Johnson, Margie Davis both of Fremont, NE, Mable (Rodney) Nelson of Sidney, NE; brother, Richard Larson of Uehling; four grandchildren, Peter (Pam) Christensen, Carrie (Ryan) Jackson, Trent (Corrinne) Grover, Amber (Mike) Trapp; eight great grandchildren, Tanner, Cameron and Ava Jackson, Hannah and Emma Christensen, Cillian and Malcolm Grover, Griffin Trapp.
