Dona Marie Erickson, 61 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska was born November 16, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska to Harold and Margery (Prusha) Devney.  She passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her home in Tekamah.

Dona grew up in Omaha, then moved to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska.  She then lived in California and Arizona before returning home to Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margery and Harold Devney and her brother, Wesley Devney.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Lee Biesendorfer; her daughter, Melonie Erickson; her son, Mark Erickson; two grandchildren; one brother, Harold Devney; and 2 sisters, Sharon Brooke and Barbara Campbell.

Funeral Services will be Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield, NE.

Matt was born July 7, 1994 in Norfolk, NE to Chad Luschen and Sarah (Maly) Birkley. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 2012. Matt enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and four-wheeling. He was a big fan of Nebraska Cornhusker Football. Most of all he loved being with his friends and family.

He is survived by his father, Chad (Crystal Hahn) Luschen of Vermillion, SD; mother, Sarah (Travis) Birkley of Wakefield, NE, grandparents, Maureen (Myron) Osbahr of Wakefield, NE, Geri Turner of Vermillion, S.D. and Ron Turner of Amado, AZ, Jim and Cissy Maly of Wayne, NE, Doug and Patty Jensen of Wakefield, NE, John (Theresa) Birkley of Hinton, IA; sisters, Savannah (Josh) Staub of Carroll, NE, Paige Hahn of Vermillion, SD; brothers, Jonathan Birkley of Wakefield, NE, Jacob Birkley of Wakefield, NE, Billy Radigan of Vermillion, NE, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Greggory James Nelson, 51, of Bloomfield NE, Formerly of Oakland NE


Greggory James Nelson was born July 21, 1963 in Blair, Nebraska, to Roger and Dona Jean (Bacon) Nelson. He passed away November 10, 2014 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota, at the age of 51.

Greggory lived on a farm North of Craig, Nebraska in his early years. He was baptized at the First Lutheran Church, in Oakland, Nebraska, in 1963.

He recently resided in Bloomfield, Nebraska and attended North Star day services, grinding his own line of specialty coffees called Gregg’s Grounds. He sold his coffee to several businesses in the community and enjoyed selling it at the local craft fairs. He loved the farm, the big machinery, and enjoyed coming back to visit his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Frances Nelson, Jay and Irene Bacon; uncles, Luther, John and Everett Young, David Chris Bacon; aunt, Betty (Bacon) Baltzell.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Dona Jean (Bacon) Nelson of Oakland; brother, Jeff A. (Vicki) Nelson of Oakland; nephew and nieces, Molly (Mike) Miller, Ryan A. Nelson. Kiley Nelson and fiancé, Conrad Connealy; great niece and nephew, Makenna and Milo Miller; special aunt and uncles, Barbara (Rick) Shaw, Fred Bacon, Steve Bacon; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Katherine (Gibbs) Lockhart, 89, of Tekamah NE


Katherine (Gibbs) Lockhart was born April 3, 1925, in Newcastle, Nebraska, to James and Lucy (Fitzgerald) Gibbs. She passed away November 10, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 89.

Katherine moved to Tekamah at the age of 20. It was there, in 1952, that she married her soul mate Charles (Yockey) Lockhart. She worked in accounting all her life, and retired from the Burt County State Bank in 1984. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Katherine was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Tekamah. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife and friend. She was a strong, independent and remarkably generous woman, who will be much missed. Her caring, loving ways, sense of humor and spunk touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was always there for everyone, always donating time and money to others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Yockey); parents, James and Lucy Gibbs; sister, Winona Ryan; brother, Jim Gibbs; brothers-in-law, Edgar and Sam Lockhart, Jim Ryan, Ronald Ericksen; sisters-in-law, Ann Williams, Hazel Winslade, Mae Palmer, Agnes Farris, Helen Madsen.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Miklas, of Bellevue, NE, Bobbi Jo Lockhart, of Blair, NE; two grandchildren, Brandon Miklas, of Bellevue, Christopher (Eileen) Lockhart, of Chicago, IL; great granddaughter, Norah, of Chicago; sister-in-law, Bernice, of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Keith Palmer, of Tekamah; many nieces; nephews; and other loved ones.
