Phyllis L. Carlson, 90 years, of Hooper, Nebraska died Monday, April 20, 2015 at Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4 PM – 8PM with family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, Nebraska and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Doris Jean Olson, 84, of Tekamah NE


DORIS JEAN OLSON was born in Bancroft, Nebraska to Ernest and Anna (Carlson) Carlson on October 1, 1930. She passed away, after a lengthy illness, at Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska on April 17, 2015, at the age of 84 years.

Doris attended District 22 and graduated from West Point High School in 1948. She worked for the telephone company, for one year as a telephone operator, before starting work at what was then the AAA office. She moved to Tekamah in 1959 to work at ASC (AAA) office, and continued to work there for 38 years. In 1997 Doris started in real estate and eventually opened her own office, Olson Real Estate. For fourteen years she enjoyed working, up until her health issues required her to sell her business.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd Olson on August 7, 1960, who had three children, David, Jeff and Julie, whom she lovingly cared for.

Doris was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, and served as their treasurer for many years. Doris had many loves, those of which included gardening, cooking, knitting, and especially entertaining her family and friends.

Her greatest love was taking care of her husband for the past 55 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Tekamah; sister, Alice Blanknagel of Beemer, NE; brother, Ernest Carlson of Georgia; 2 sons, David (Cindy) Olson and Jeff Olson, both of Tekamah; daughter, Julie (Greg) Bogseth of Oakland, NE; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, April 25, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah.

Mary L. Bogseth age 87 of West Point, Nebraska passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, Nebraska.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Church in West Point, NE.  Interment will be in the Westside Cemetery, rural Oakland, NE.  Visitation will be on Monday from noon to 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE and will continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  The family suggests that memorials be directed to Trinity Church in West Point or the local chapter of the American Heart Association.   Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Louise Bogseth was born on January 11, 1928 at Tilden, NE to George W. and Ida M. (Wagner) Real.  On December 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Randall Bogseth at Belleville, KS.  They lived near Ewing, NE for the first five years of marriage and lived in Lincoln, NE a short time before settling on a farm east of West Point, NE on the Cuming/Burt Co. line.  In 1978, they moved into West Point in a home their son Greg built and started Carpets and Curtains, where Mary was known as the “Drapery Lady”.  She continued to sew draperies for close to 30 years.  The couple moved to an acreage east of town in 1983 and retired back into West Point in the early 1990’s.

Mary was active at Trinity Church in West Point, belonging to its Evening Guild and later the Quilting Group.  She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club and different card clubs.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, playing games with the kids and traveling on day trips back to the Sandhills.

Vesta Anita Alvena (Vogel) Brondum, 87, of Pender, Nebraska passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at Legacy Garden Living Center in Pender. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at St. Mark’s. Vesta was born October 11, 1927 to Nash and Delilah (Thompson) Vogel in Beemer, NE. She attended school in West Point, NE. On July 31, 1947 Vesta married Dale Brondum in Dakota City, NE. To this union the couple had three children.

Vesta enjoyed several hobbies including, crocheting and knitting, cooking for her family, canning fruits and vegetables, and singing hymns and other music. She also had the talents of drawing and yodeling. Most of all, Vesta loved camping and spending time with her husband, Dale, and their family.

Vesta is survived by daughter, Carol (Lynn) Petersen of Aurora, CO; daughter-in-law Gail Brondum of Omaha, NE; sister, Myrdyce Liefert of Fremont, NE; grandchildren, Tiffany Petersen Weaver, Jeff Petersen, Kary Preston, Brian Preston, Amy Brondum Garner, Aaron Brondum, Ashley Brondum, and ten great grandchildren.

Vesta is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale, daughter, Norma Preston, son, Merlin Brondum, seven sisters, and five brothers.

The victory day for Emily Martha (Oltmans) Mackey, 70, of Decatur, NE was on Friday, April 10, 2015 at her home in Decatur, NE.
Emily was born August 29, 1944 to William and Mabel (Stevens) Oltmans in Beatrice, NE.  The ninth of 12 children. Emily graduated from Filley High School and received an associate degree in elementary education from Fairbury Junior College, an associate degree in alcohol and drug abuse counseling from Metro Tech in Omaha and a Master’s Degree in mental health agency counseling from University of Nebraska at Omaha.  She is also an ordained minister with Impact Ministries International.
Emily was united in marriage to Pete Mackey on March 12, 1988 at Word of Life Church in Sioux City, IA.    She is survived by her husband Pete, stepson Travis and wife Sabra, their children Katia, Megan, Grace, Olivia and Isaac; stepdaughter Heidi and husband Mark Trelz, their children Madeline and Max; sister-in-law Violet Mackey;  sisters: Alice Knox and Jan Oltmans; brothers: Louis and wife Eunice; Clarence and wife Henrietta; Melvin and wife Connie; Arnold and wife Marcia; brother-in-law Marvin Bartels and sisters-in-law Carol Oltmans and Elda Oltmans; 33 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great, great nieces and nephews.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents William and Mabel (Stevens) Oltmans, sisters: Lenora Bartels and Frieda Oltmans; brothers: Delmar, Harlen and Ernest; Mother-in-law Angie Mackey, sister-in-law Elaine Oltmans and brothers-in-law Ivan Knox and Richard Mackey.
A funeral service will be held at the Decatur City Hall on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.  There will be a viewing at Fox Funeral Home at 1116 North 19th Street, Beatrice, NE on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and a memorial service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Beatrice on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Casket bearers will be Dennis Bartels, Kenneth Bartels, Keith Oltmans, William Oltmans, Randal Knox and David Oltmans.

Lavonne Cecile Yanke was born to Harold and Edna (Olson) Swanson on September 24, 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Casa de Paz Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Lavonne attended the Deman Country School, graduating from Decatur High School in 1956. In January 1968, she married Henry (Hank) Arnold. To this union was born a son, Calvin Henry. She married Dale Yanke in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold Jr.

She is survived by son, Calvin (Trish) of Brunswick, NE; grandson, Dylan Arnold of Brunswick; three sisters, Mary Ann Bacon of Lyons, NE, Donna (Rex) Preston of Lyons, Anita Faye of Decatur, NE; one brother, Elmer James of Decatur; many nieces and nephews.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Wednesday, April 15, 2015, 10:00 am at Uehling Cemetery, Uehling, Nebraska.
