We will be going to Golden Oaks for their potluck on Tuesday August 12th at 11:15 pm and also that day the PR Committee will be having Brownie Sundaes for the residents at 2:30 pm. On Thursday Charlie Davis will be here to play his Harmonica at 2:30 pm and on Saturday August 16th the Rusty Buckets will be performing at 2:30 pm.
Church Service for Sunday August 10th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with refreshments served afterwards.
Activities for the week of August 11th to August 15th are as followed, , Reading with Marilyn, Reminiscing Group, Sing a Long, Bingo w/Evang. Free., Reading Group, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.
Volunteers signing in last week were; Judy Nelson, Mary Donovan, Seth Anderson, Dani Moseman, Anne Anderson, Mary Alice Pearson, Marge Maller, Patty Miller, Di Ruwe, Bonnie Fleischman, Kathy Rennerfeldt, and Sly Rouse.
Guest’s signing the Guest book this past week was: Tom Larson, Ron and Mary Plageman to see Dorothy Larson.

FENLON A. “FEN” DANIELSON, JR. 83 years of Greenwood, Nebraska, originally of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014, at his home in Valley, Nebraska.
Fenlon was born July 15, 1931, in Oakland, to Fenlon A. Sr. and Helen (Fuller) Danielson. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1948 and lived on a farm in the Oakland area until 1966. Fenlon attended Salem Covenant Church.
On April 20, 1952, Fenlon and Margaret Meier were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, Nebraska. They were married for 56 years and had two sons, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Fen and Marge started out farming in the rural Oakland area. They moved to Ralston, Nebraska, in 1966 when Fen started working for Continental Trailways as a Bus Driver. He achieved numerous driving awards including a Million Mile Safe Driving record. In 1971, Fen and Marge moved to an acreage in rural Greenwood where they spent 37 years raising dogs, horses, long horn cattle, ducks and sheep. Fen was Owner/Operator of his own truck working locally in the Omaha and Lincoln area. Fen finished his career driving for Flatbed Express hauling construction materials for many of the buildings in Omaha and Council Bluffs. He also hauled the airplanes from the SAC Museum to the new Air Museum at Mahoney State Park.
Fen enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating along with farming, especially driving tractors and combines. Fen showed cattle in 4H growing up and continued throughout his life raising, training and showing horses and dogs. Among many of Fen and Marge’s Championships, one of the proudest was being honored the Breeders of a National Champion Herding Border Collie trained by John Holman of Arnold, Nebraska, in 2014.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Marge” in September 2008; and brother, Robert.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Jane Danielson of Ft Worth, TX, Dave and Tam Danielson of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Patrick and Sarah Danielson, Thomas Danielson, Shay Danielson, John and Lindsey (Danielson) Anderson, Wade and Jackie Danielson, Jace Danielson and Kate Heres; four great grandchildren: Reese, Camden, Cael and Baby A on the Way; sister-in-law, Janet Danielson, Caldwell, ID.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, August 9, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Salem Covenant Church in rural Oakland.
BURIAL: Salem Cemetery, rural Oakland
VISITATION;: Friday, August 8, 2014, 4 – 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation Saturday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
MEMORIALS: Nebraska Stock Dog Assoc., 415 N. Clay Ave., Clay Center, NE 68933 and Salem Covenant Church

Paul Thomsen, 48, of Pender, Nebraska died on Monday, August 4, 2014 near Nemo, South Dakota as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Mass of Christian Burial for Paul is pending at this time with Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Joan M. Racely, 84, of Pender, Nebraska passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Legacy Gardens in Pender, Nebraska.
Funeral services for Joan will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Pender in Pender, Nebraska; Pastor Steven Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Church of Pender.
Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.

-Yesterday saw a rally in the grains, with corn+7 & soybeans +21! However a more negative tone this morning.
-Weather forecasts did not change much since Friday when we were lower by this amount, but short-covering came into the market and we are waiting to see if the forecasts pans out this week, with rains forecast
-Crop conditions fell by 2% on corn to 73% good/excellent nationwide. Nebraska corn fell by 2% as well
-Soybean conditions were steady at 71% good/excellent nationwide. Nebraska soybean conditions fell by 2%
-Overnight corn is down 2 with soybeans down 10
