Registrations Taken for Child Care Conference
FREMONT – Registrations are now being taken for the annual Fremont Child Care Conference in Fremont, Nebraska. The theme this year is Lighting the Spark for Hope in Child Care: Strategies for Success for Child Care Educators. .Louann Pepper of the Applebaum Institute will motivate your team for a fun day of learning together. Louann is full of energy and has a really fun motivational personality. In addition to her degree she has over 15 years of very successful teaching experience working with children of all ages. Louann understands what child care providers need to foster a child’s successful development. She knows what tips and tricks make teaching easier. She ahares information, strategies, and solutions along with personal stories of children she has taught. She will touch your life and inspire you to go to work more excited and filled with strategies to make your job easier and better. You will enjoy her sincerity, enthusiasm, humor, and knowledge. You will leave the workshop armed with information to use the very next day. The Applebaum Training Institute is the largest training organization in the United States for those who teach children. Established in 1989, the Applebaum training Institute has trained hundreds of thousands of individuals throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in other countries of the world Children are the future of the world. Their mission is to ensure that those who care for children are knowledgeable in techniques to guide children to be all they can be. Their seminars are exciting, informative, and motivating. They cover topics that relate to children and building a brighter future for them through you.
The conference will be held Saturday, October 12 in the Fremont Public Schools Administration Building. The fun starts at 8:00 am and lasts until 3:00 pm. Each participant will receive 6 hours of continuing education for the $25 registration fee which includes lunch and make & takes.

Music Technology is an exciting class where some of the students play music such as Same Love or Sail on IPads. The Northeast iPad Ensemble is glad to present the iPad music to you with some of our best music students. The iPads are the newest and now may be the greatest part in the music department. The students in Music Technology are in charge of writing articles for the school website. At the concert we perform and also control all of the sound system.
Also, the Music Appreciation class is coming together to play some of the best songs on there guitars. The Northeast Guitar Ensemble will be performing Sweet Home Alabama, and Cruise. They will be performing at our next concert which is played on October 17, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. We hope to see you there.

The United States Postal Service is considering raising the cost of stamps from 46 cents to 49 cents due to a “financial disaster” according to Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe. The USPS is facing a six billion dollar loss this year and is running out of cash to pay it’s bills. What are your thoughts on this situation?

* The senior center provides Information and Assistance to any individual who is looking for services for themselves or another person 60 years and older, the center manager and/or center participant can provide information to individuals on services available within the community. We link individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within or beyond the community itself. We will then establish adequate follow-up procedures to see that their needs were met. For more information call 402-648-3387.
*If you are 60 years and older and need information on programs designed to help keep you in your home longer or if you need legal help, contact Connie at 402-648-3387 or in the evening at 402-648-7648.
* We have the following medical equipment to loan out on an as need basis, wheel chair, bath seats, toilet seat riser and portable toilet chair, crutches or walker. Call 402-648-3387 during office hours.
Farmers Market will be Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00, across the street from the senior center, in front of the Village Community Bulletin Board.

Wed. Sept. 25: Melody chimes practice at 9:00. Sign up for the pitch tournament at 1:30
Thurs. Sept. 26: Pool at 9:20. Tai Chi Class at 9:30 and Walking ex. at 10:15. Coffee at 10:00. Come and play the Wii game at 1:00 and stay for bingo at 2:00.
Fri. Sept. 27: Farmers Market from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. located across the street by the Village Community Bulletin Board. Chair & Frog ex. class at 9:30 and walking ex.at 10:15 a.m. Would you like to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30; remember to sign up to play.
Mon. Sept 30: Stop in for a cup of coffee in the morning. Sign up for 5-handed pinochle at 1:30 and hand and foot.
Tues. Oct. 1: Pool at 9:20. Walking ex. class at 10:15. Pitch tournament at 1:30.
Wed. Oct. 2: Melody chimes practice at 9:00. Join us for coffee at 10:00. Would you like to play UNO or Skip-Bo 1:30?
LDNE Cougars down Osmond for Homecoming victory!

The Cougars football team made for a happy Homecoming Crowd as they steam rolled the Osmond Tigers 60-22.
Northeast had a 54-0 halftime lead as Alex Brehmer and Chevy Henneman each had three touchdowns. Henneman had runs of 40 and 45 yards while Brehmer had a long score from 46 yards out. Brehmer also connected with Dakota Riecken for a 49 yard TD.
Brehmer closed out the scoring with an eleven yard run in the third period.
Dakota Riecken was he defensive leader with 14 tackles. He had two tackles for loss. David Bishop had two sacks. Brehmer had 10 tackles with an interception. Freshman Cole Christoffersen had a TFL.

Wear a 4-H Shirt Challenge
It’s back! Adams and Fillmore Counties are again challenging 4-H supporters from across the state to show their 4-H pride with this fun and easy contest. Youth and/or adults may participate by simply taking a unique picture of themselves wearing a 4-H shirt during National 4-H Week, October 6-12, 2013. They will need to post their picture to the Facebook event or to Twitter using the provided hash tag.
Everyone is invited to check back throughout the week to “like” your favorite photos! Official voting ends October 13th at midnight.

Vincent Mark Connealy, 88, of Decatur

VINCENT MARK CONNEALYwas born January 31, 1925, to Frank and Ida (Badge) Connealy on a farm west of Decatur, Nebraska. He passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, at his home in Decatur, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years.
Vincent attended Elm Creek Elementary School and graduated from Lyons High School in 1942.
On June 19, 1950, Vincent married Betty O’Brien at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dunlap, Iowa. She passed away November 1, 1998. He married Patricia (Ferguson) Bair on April 6, 2002, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
Vincent was a life-long farmer. He coached baseball for his children and many neighbor boys for several years. For practice he made a ball diamond in one of his pastures.
He was a life-long member of Holy Family Church in Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; brother, Tom; sister, Frances, infant sister, Mary and grandson, Josh Pueppke.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Decatur; sons, Frank (Linda) of Mead, KS, Mark (Karen) of Rogers, NE, Dan of Decatur, Rev. Jerry of Stanton, NE, Joe (Carla) of Bellevue, NE; daughters, Ann Brammer of LaVista, NE and Mary Pueppke of Columbus, NE; stepson, Tom (Jan) Bair of Kansas City, MO, 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, September 27, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
VISITATION: Thursday 5 – 8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service all at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. Visitation Friday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
BURIAL: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur.
