Cougars down Winside Wildcats

The Cougars went on the road to Winside for their third game of the year and handily defeated the Wildcats 58-28.  Northeast has a 3-0 record while Winside is winless.

Henneman put Northeast in front after he broke loose for a forty-five yard scoring run in the first quarter.  Winside tied the game, but L-D responded with two scoring passes by Brehmer.  He hooked up with Taylor Fuston on a 35 yard scoring play and Dakota Riecken pulled a 31 yard TD pass.

The passing game opened up the running lanes for the Cougars.  Brehmer broke two long runs as Northeast gained a 36 to 6 lead in the game.  The runs of 37 and  30 yards helped the senior quarterback total 163 yards on the ground.   He added 93 yards through the air with a third TD pass just before half.  Riecken hauled in his second score with a 20 yard reception

Northeast led 44 -14 the half.

The coach used the second half to get the reserves some playing time.  Brehmer scored in the third period and turned the QB duties to Chevy Henneman .  Henneman capped off the night with a 15 yard scoring run.  He had  129 rushing yards.  Freshman Montana Riecken showed some promise for the future as he hooked up with fellow freshman Bren Shotto on  a 37 yard pass.

The Cougars had 439 total yards for their offensive effort.  They picked  300 yards on the ground and added 139 through the air.  They averaged 7.4 yards per carry. They hit on 7 of 10 passes with five players catching a ball.

The defense gave up 266 yards.  104 of those yard came on long scoring plays in the second half.  Winside had 117 rushing yards and 149 passing yards.

Riecken led the defense with 12 tackles while  Brehmer and Henneman had 11.  Northeast picked off six Wildcat passes.  Linebackers Chevy Henneman and Dakota Riecken each had two picks.  Taylor Fuston and David Bishop added one each.

Helpful Hints: Here are a few, let’s add more to the list!

I wish to start something new, and hopefully fun.

Everyone has a way they do things, such as making your own cleaning products, or how to get gum out of hair.

I would like everyone to submit your household hints. Any type of hints are welcome, from cleaning to cooking and everything in between.

I will submit the first one.

If your tube of mascara seems dried out, but there is still some left. there is a way to fix it. Put a few eye drops into the tube of mascara. Shake it up, and you will have useable mascara again! I have tried this and it does work.

Lets add some more. We can all learn something from each other.

Here is one from Rosa Schmidt:

I have found the best shower cleaner–especially for those with hard water. Take equal parts white vinegar and Dawn dishsoap (the regular, not ultra). Warm up the vinegar so that it mixes well with the Dawn and keep in your spray bottle. Spray your shower down after each use and you will never scrub again!

The next one is from a twitter follower, BJ:

If you have really dirty dishes, fill up your sink with hot water, and add dish soap (Dawn or whatever you like to use). Then, let the dishes and pans soak in that for a few hours… the grime comes right off, and you save a ton of effort scrubbing away!

The last one is from Rebecka Fleischman:

Spider Repellant: 10 drops peppermint essential oil with 8 oz. water in a spray bottle. Spray around doors, windows and in corners. Can increase the potency with more peppermint. Spiders hate peppermint.
