* The senior center provides Information and Assistance to any individual who is looking for services for themselves or another person 60 years and older, the center manager and/or center participant can provide information to individuals on services available within the community. We link individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within or beyond the community itself. We will then establish adequate follow-up procedures to see that their needs were met. For more information call 402-648-3387.

*If you are 60 years and older and need information on programs designed to help keep you in your home longer or if you need legal help, contact Connie at 402-648-3387 or in the evening at 402-648-7648.

* We have the following medical equipment to loan out on an as need basis, wheel chair, bath seats, toilet seat riser and portable toilet chair, crutches or walker. Call 402-648-3387 during office hours.

 

Meals on Wheels

The Meals on Wheels program started in Bancroft February 10th. Anyone over the age of 60 years and lives within the city limits are eligible for these meals. You may sign up anytime for the Meals on Wheels program; you can get the meals delivered however many times you want them each week. You must call 402-687-2332 before 8:45 if you want a meal that day.

We need more volunteers willing to deliver the meals once they get to the senior center in Bancroft. Contact the senior contact 402-648-3387 if you wish to help deliver the meals, want a meal delivered or have a question.

 

 

Weekly Activities:

Wed. Feb. 19: Melody chimers practice at 9:00. Join us for coffee anytime during the day. Sign up for the 5-handed pinochle game at 1:30.

Thurs.: Feb. 20: Pool 9:30. Tai Chi class at 9:30 and the walking ex. class at 10:30. Stop in for coffee at 10:00. Remember to sign up to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30 today.

Fri. Feb 21: Come and join us at the monthly birthday party at 1:30, a light lunch is served at 3:15.

Mon. Feb. 24: We will have a pitch tournament at 1:30.

Tues. Feb.25: Play pool at 9:30. Tai Chi class at 9:30 and the walking ex. class at 10:00. Board games are planned at 1:30 but if you would prefer to play a card game instead that would be just fine.

Wed. Feb. 26: Melody chimers practice at 9:00.  We will have Wii bowling at 1:00 and bingo begins at 2:00.

Fri. Feb 14: Happy Valentine’s Day. The hot meal for today is chili soup, corn bread or cheese sandwich, jell salad and dessert. Sign up for the meal by 9:30 a.m. We will have a pinochle tournament at 1:30.

Mon. Feb. 17: The caregiver support group meets at 2:00. Luella Petersen will give a presentation about  “Hands”.

Tues. Feb.18: Play pool at 9:30. Tai Chi class at 9:30 and the walking ex. class at 10:00. Sign up for the pitch tournament at 1:30. We will serve an evening meal: pancakes and French toast, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee from 5:30 – 6:45. You are welcome to stay and play pitch at 7:00 p.m.

The village board and the Bancroft Senior Center have been working together to provide Meals on Wheels for the residents that live within the city limits. You must be 60 years and older. The meals will be prepared by the Lyons Happy Days Senior Center and the suggested donation is $4 per meal. There needs to be at least 7 or 8 people who will take the meals Tuesday through Friday every week. We have a driver for 4 days of the week but not on Mondays. If you are interested in having Meals on Wheels contact the senior center at 402-648-3387 by January 30. Our goal is to get this program implemented by February 10th. We also need volunteers to deliver the meals once they get to Bancroft. Contact the senior center if you have any question.

Tues. Jan. 28: Play pool at 9:30. Tai Chi class at 9:30 and the walking ex. class at 10:00. Remember to sign up for the fried chicken dinner at noon today Deborah Willcox will talk about nutrition at 12:20. Cards after lunch.

Wed. Jan 29:  No melody chimes today. A pitch tournament will be held at 1:30.

 

 

 

 

Bancroft Caregiver Meeting


Caregiver Support Group Meeting

The monthly Caregiver Support Group will meet at the Bancroft Senior Center, this coming Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m.  The meetings are very informal; various topics are discussed and those who attend are encouraged to share their ups and downs of being a caregiver. If you are a caregiver and have never attended a meeting, please feel free to come and join us.
