The senior center provides Information and Assistance to any individual who is looking for services for themselves or another person 60 years and older, the center manager and/or center participant can provide information to individuals on services available within the community. We link individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within or beyond the community itself. We will then establish adequate follow-up procedures to see that their needs were met. Wed. Jan. 21: Melody chimes practice today at 9:00. Our post-holiday dinner is today at 12:00; if you plan to attend please bring either a vegetable, salad or a dessert. The meat and potatoes will be provided. We will play cards and board games after lunch.

Thurs. Jan. 22: Tai Chi class at 9:30, and walking ex class at 10:30. Stop in for coffee at 10:00. We will play bingo at 2:00.

Fri. Jan.23: Chair exercise at 10:00. Sign up to play pitch at 1:30.

Mon. Jan.26: The caregiver support group meets at 2:00; if you are a caregiver please join us.

Tues. Jan.27: Sign up for the pitch tournament at 1:15. The senior center board meeting is at 3:30.

Wed. Jan. 28: Melody chimes practice at 9:00. We will have a hand and foot card tournament at 1:30.

John Falatko, 85, of Bancroft, Nebraska died on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska.

Memorial services for John are pending at this time with Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft.

Ella J. Rodick, 93, of Bancroft NE


Ella J. Rodick, 93, of Bancroft, Nebraska died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at West Point Living Center in West Point, Nebraska. Funeral services for Ella will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Philip Hale will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Organ Fund. Arrangements by Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE.

Ella was born on April 5, 1921 in Osmond, Nebraska, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Lindwurm) Schultz. She was baptized on August 28, 1921 at Eden Valley Lutheran Church in Osmond and confirmed on April 14, 1935 at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. On September 27, 1940, Ella was united in marriage to John Rodick at Grace Lutheran Church. To this union two sons were born: Arlan and Melvin. The couple farmed in the Bancroft area.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, serving on the Alter Guild and the Chime and Bell Choir. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, dancing and baking.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Arlan (Pat) Rodick of Shasta Lake, CA and Melvin (Barb) Rodick of Castle Rock, CO. She is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, a sister, Alice Klintworth and brother, Ervin Schultz.

Genevieve Hermelbracht, 90, of Omaha, formerly of Bancroft, Nebraska died on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Huntington Park Care Center in Papillion, Nebraska. Funeral services for Genevieve will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Philip Hale will be officiating.

The visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Nebraska.
