Dorothy M. Boley, 91, of Wakefield NE


Dorothy M. Boley, 91, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Wednesday, July 08, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield; Pastor Dave Rusk will be officiating. The visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Marie Boley was born on December 23, 1923 in Scottsbluff, NE, the daughter of Walter and Leila (Carpenter) Chinn. The family moved to Wakefield in 1939, and Dorothy graduated from Wakefield High School in 1942. Following graduation she attended business college in Sioux City, IA. Shortly after finishing school she moved to St. Louis, MO in 1947. In 1950, she was united in marriage to Glenn Boley. They moved to a cotton farm near Sikeston, MO. She was the organist at her church for many years in Sikeston. She worked as a legal secretary for the District Attorney retiring in 1985. She soon returned to Nebraska to be closer to her family.

Dorothy enjoyed music, oil painting and time spent at the Wakefield Senior Center. Most of all she loved spending time with her extended family.

She is survived by her sister Jean (Norman) Minola of Wakefield and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, a sister and brother-in-law June and Cecil Rhodes and her niece Deb Rhodes Skinner.

Myron Peterson, 77, of Laurel NE


Myron Paul Peterson, 77, of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Wisner Care Center in Wisner, Nebraska. Memorial services for Myron will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Laurel, Nebraska with Pastor Jamie Farias officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial with military honors will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord, Nebraska. Myron was born in Wayne, Nebraska on May 25, 1937, the son of Arvid and Ethel (Magnuson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord and graduated from Concord High School in 1955. Myron entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Saudi Arabia and California. On November 9, 1958, he was married to Mary Mann at Whittier, CA. After leaving the services, Myron worked at Lowell Joint School District in La Habra, CA. Myron and Mary returned to Nebraska in 1976. He worked from P&W Sales constructing grain bins, and with Cedar County Roads Departments. His greatest joy working was with the Laurel Concord School District as a bus driver and a grounds keeper.

He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Linda (Roger) Kvols, a son Paul (Diane) Peterson, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren with another coming this June. Myron is also survived by a sister-in-law Caroline Peterson, sister and brother-in-laws Nancy (Ken) Nair, Betty (Terry) Graf, Rick (Connie) Mann, his Aunt Evonne Magnuson and many nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents Arvid and Ethel, infant son Cory Peterson, infant grandson Kale Kvols, brother Verneal Peterson and brother and sister-in-law Iner (Naomi) Peterson.

Luella was born October 9, 1931 to Fred and Esther (Jepsen) Paulsen on a farm in Thurston County, NE. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1949. On November 10, 1951, Luella was united in marriage to Milford Kay. The couple had two children Gregory and Steven. Luella worked at the phone company in Wakefield before working at Waldbaum’s and for many years in the Wakefield High School. In her later years, she worked at Sidelines Restaurant in Wakefield. Luella enjoyed being outside camping, fishing, and gardening.

Luella is survived by her sons, Steve (Donna) Kay of South Sioux City, NE, Greg (Pamela) Kay of Fort, Dodge, IA; grandchildren, Brett Kay, Josh Kay, Stephanie (JJ) Livingston; and two great grandchildren, Jessie Heckens, and Jayden Livingston, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford on March 3, 2004; brother, Don Paulsen; and sister, Delores Barge.

Mildred was born May 5, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA to Floyd and Agnes (Anderson) Smith. Mick married Morris Thomsen November 3, 1937 in Wayne County. They farmed in Thurston and eventually Wayne County, where they raised their family. In 1964, they moved to Wakefield. Morris and Mick continued to live in their own home and were very active with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren .She enjoyed reading, embroidering, and cutting quilt blocks. Mick also loved to bake and spend time with her family. After seventy years of marriage, Morris died on December 30, 2007, Mildred then moved into the Wakefield Health Care Center, where she lived until the time of her death.

She is survived by her sons, Kenny (Julie) Thomsen of Wakefield, NE, Jim (Karen) Thomsen of Stromsburg, NE; daughters, Elaine (Bill) Greve of Wakefield, NE, Faye (Merlin) Greve of Wakefield, NE; sister, Joan Jensen of Omaha, NE; brother, Alva Smith of Pender, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Morris; sister, Francis; parents; daughter-in-law, Denise; grandson, Mike; and great-great granddaughter Maria.
