Mary Lou E. Krusemark, 92, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Ne surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor William Bertrand will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh ~ Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Mary Lou was born on April 27, 1922 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl and Bertha (Doose) Brudigam. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Wakefield. In 1939 she graduated from Wakefield High School. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Edward Krusemark on October 18, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Wakefield. To this union five children were born: Ron, Merle, Marcia, Gary and Brenda. The couple made their home on the farm south of Wakefield for 42 years. For several years she worked at the Wakefield Hospital as a Nurses Aid. In 1976, Ed and Mary Lou moved into Wakefield. Ed died on May 24, 2009. Mary Lou enjoyed quilting, crocheting, puzzles and playing cards. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mary Lou is survived by her children and their spouses: Ron and Corliss Krusemark of Wayne, Merle and Cheri Krusemark of Wakefield, Marcia and Lonnie Nixon of Laurel, Gary and Cathy Krusemark of Omaha and Brenda and Paul Stuart of Omaha. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed and brothers: Arnold, Lloyd, Les and Raymond Brudigam.

Norman Gerald Swanson, 91, of Wakefield, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; with Pastor Barbara Hansen officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. Norman Gerald Swanson was born in Julesburg, Colorado on October 21, 1923, the son of Otto A. Swanson and Martha L. (Carlson) Swanson. He was baptized on October 12, 1924 in a school that served as a church. He moved with his parents to a farm near Bloomfield, Nebraska and went to County School District 152 until 4th grade. The family then moved to a farm south of Wausa where he attended District 150 in Pierce County, graduating from 8th grade. At that time he left school to help on the family farm. While living in the Wausa area, he was a member of Thabor Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed in 1938.

He worked on the farm until 1943, then moved to Omaha, where he worked for Omaha Steel. He was drafted into the Army but volunteered for the Navy. After receiving his discharge, he helped at home and drove a truck for Albert Clausen. He then took a job at K&K Kleaners in Wausa. He also worked for Burke Hardware, Carlson Home and Auto, and Anderson Farm Supply.

On August 1, 1950, he married Alice (“Becky”) Hoskin in Callaway, Nebraska. On August 16, 1952, they moved to Wakefield, where they owned Swanson Implement, an Allis Chalmers dealership. In May, 1966, he went to work for the Wakefield School District as a bus driver, maintenance man and custodian until retiring on August 20, 1987. After that he worked part time at True Value.

While living in Wakefield, he was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served several terms on the Church Council, 20 years in the Sunday School office, and sang in the choir and the men’s group.

He served two terms on the Wakefield City Council and was on the Cemetery Committee and the Citizen Advisory Committee. He was also on the scholarship committee at the Wakefield Health Care Center.

Norman is survived by his daughter Linda (Swanson) Nordby of Tallahassee, Florida; son Leslie “Bud” Swanson and wife Sandy of Norfolk, Nebraska; grandchildren Daniel Nordby and wife Rachel, Laura (Nordby) Jackson and husband Earl, Mary (Swanson) Kramer and husband Ben, and Amy Swanson; great grandchildren Colin Kramer, Andrew Nordby, Aliyah Jackson, Peter Nordby, Katherine Nordby, and Lydia Kramer; sisters Gladys Johnson of Trimont, Minnesota, and Leona and husband Eugene Wischhof of Wausa, Nebraska; brother-in-law Clarence Suhr of Wausa, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice “Becky” Swanson, parents, sister Helen (Swanson) Suhr; brother-in-law Allan Johnson, brother-in-law Edgar Daniel Hoskin and wife Margaret (Cobb) Hoskin; and half sisters-in-law Evelyn (Hoskin) Lammers, Vivian (Hoskin) Harvey and Maxine (Hoskin) Ewing.

Mervonne Lubberstedt Doebke 84, of Pierce, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 14 , 2015, at the Pierce Manor in Pierce, Nebraska. A family graveside memorial service will be held on June 5, 2015 at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, Nebraska. Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements. Mervonne was born in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Erwin and Mabel (Denker) Lubberstedt. She was baptized and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield. She graduated from Wakefield high school in 1951. She married Glen Doebke and they lived in Fremont and Norfolk, Nebraska for several years.

Mervonne is survived by her brothers Wes Lubberstedt of Lexington, Nebraska, Robert (Dawn) Lubberstedt of Wakefield, Nebraska and Rodney (Bonnie) Lubberstedt of Kerrville, TX, and one sister; Cathy (Kent) Lubberstedt Bressler of Kerrville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Mable, husband Glenn and a brother Gene. The family requests that memorials be sent to Pierce Manor in Mervonne’s memory.

Linda was born October 7, 1928 to Milferd and Sophie (Grone) Barner in Wayne, NE. Linda was baptized October 28, 1928 and confirmed March 29, 1942 into the Lutheran faith. She attended rural school districts in Dixon and Wayne counties. Linda graduated from Winside High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at Coryell Auto Company in Wayne. Linda married Robert Paul on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. She continued to work as a bookkeeper at Schroeder’s Implement in Wakefield until she began to raise a family.

Linda received membership of the Presbyterian Church in Wakefield on April 3, 1953. She served the congregation as an elder for several terms and as Clerk of Session. Throughout the years, she taught church school, sponsored youth groups, and held the office of secretary for Presbyterian Women for many years. Linda also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and Scrabble. Linda was a very faithful woman and loved spending time with her family.

Linda is survived by her husband, Robert Paul of Wakefield, NE; son, Alan Paul of Council Bluffs; daughters, Joni (Gene) Pfeifer of Overland Park, KS, Lisa Cuvelier of Omaha, NE, Shelley Welton of Papillion, NE; three sisters, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Ken and Keith Paul; and three brothers.
