Carolyn Elaine (Harvey) Lutes was born April 12, 1929 in Redding, Iowa to James G. and Lela (Stephens) Harvey. She went to her eternal home on May 22, 2015 at the age of 86.
Carolyn graduated from St. Joe, Missouri, Central High School in 1946. She attended the University of Nebraska. On June 19, 1950 she married Jim Lutes. To this union 5 children were born: Cathie, Nancy, Steve, Stan, and Mary Jo. The family lived in Lincoln and Kearney before making their home in Scribner in 1966.
Carolyn was a stay at home mom who loved taking care of her family. She was an excellent cook and sports enthusiast, especially for her St. Louis Cardinals and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Her faith and her church were always important to her, serving as a model for her children, as a Sunday School teacher and Youth Group sponsor. Carolyn was an avid card player. She especially enjoyed playing bridge, but was a great fan of a friendly, family pitch game.
In 1978 Carolyn moved to Fremont, and later to Lincoln, where she worked as a Mary Kay Consultant and as a Cruise Specialist at New Century Travel while taking care of her mother. Her greatest pleasure came from shopping for her kids and grandkids. The bigger the bargain, the happier she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn; son-in-law, Jerry Anderson.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Cathie Anderson and Nancy (Gene) Poppe of Oakland, NE, Mary Brown of Omaha, NE; 2 sons, Steve (Kris) Lutes of Henning, MN, Stan (Kris) Lutes of Louisville, NE; brother, Jim (Marcie) Harvey of Colorado; brother-in-law, Robert Lutes of Lincoln, NE; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
