Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving; we will be having a Thanksgiving worship service on Wednesday November 25th at 2:30pm, then on Thursday Thanksgiving the residents will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving day dinner. Next week we start the month of December, we kick it off with our annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday December 4th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. So come on in and do a little holiday shopping.

Church Service for Sunday November 29th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday December 2nd at 1:00 pm is communion with Pastor Hoden.

Activities for the week of November 30th to December 5th   are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Reminiscing group, Sing A Long, Game Day, Bingo w/WOW, Reading Group, Bible fellowship, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Walk.

What a nice weekend for the Trick or Treaters, the residents had a good time at the Halloween party we had for them last Friday, the winner of the outside Halloween display contest was the North Star Volunteers with the Scary Bingo display, the runner up was the Skelton pirate display. We have moved in to a new month and the start of the Holiday Season is quickly approaching. Upcoming events for this week on Thursday November 5th at 2:30 pm we will be serving pumpkin donuts and apple cider. Next week on Monday November 9th the Roscoe Family will come and entertain at 2:30 pm. then on Thursday November 12th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica at 2:30 pm.

We have a couple of Birthdays coming up on November 4th Muriel Rabe, and on November 14th Pauline Loeffler celebrates her 103rd Birthday.

We have a fun week coming up, we have finished decorating outside in front of the building for a Halloween display contest, there are four teams consisting of Oakland Heights employees and North Star Volunteers. This week we have several fun activities, on Thursday the O-C Kindergarteners will come and sing for us at 2:00 pm. Then on Friday is the residents Halloween Party at 2:30 pm. And then on Saturday October 31st Halloween the residents will be handing out candy for any Trick or Treaters that would like to stop by. And don’t forget to set your clocks back this coming weekend.

Next week is the beginning of a new month and we start off on Monday November 2nd with the monthly volunteer executive meeting at 2:30. On Thursday November 5th at 2:30 pm we will be having special pumpkin treats and cider.

Church Service for November 1st at 2:30 pm will be given by Craig/Alder Grove Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday November 4th is communion with Pastor Hoden.

Activities for the week of November 2nd to November 7th , are as followed,  Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Trivia day, Sing a Long, , Bingo w/WOW, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Nebraska Football, and Saturday morning movie.

We start off this week with the Rusty Buckets on Saturday, October 17th. They will be here to sing at 2:30 pm. Next week there will be a special Puttin on the Ritz dinner for the residents on Tuesday October 20th at 11:30 am. There are a couple of birthdays coming up Margaret Benne on the 15th, Marcella Hennig on the 17th Happy Birthday to both.

Church Service for October 18th at 2:30 pm will be given by First Baptist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. Then on Monday October 19th is Communion with First Lutheran at 2:30 pm.

Activities for the week of October 19th to October 24th , are as followed,  Reading with Marilyn, Game Day, Sing a Long, Reading Group, Bingo w/Salem, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, General Store, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Nebraska Football, and Saturday morning movie.

This week on Thursday October 8th at 2:30 pm Charlie Davis will be here to play his harmonica. Next week on Tuesday October 13 at 2:30 PM we will be serving a fall treat, Apple Cider and pumpkin Donuts. Then on Thursday October 15th is the monthly Waffle Supper, serving from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

We have a few residents celebrating their birthday this week and next, Joan Pullen on October 10th, Margaret Benne on the 15th and Marcella Hennig on the 17th.

Church Service for October 11 at 2:30 pm will be given by Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul, and on Wednesday October 14th is communion with Pastor Hoden at 1:00 pm.

Activities for the week of October 12th to October 17th, are as followed,  Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Trivia, Sing a Long, Coffee an Conversation, Bingo w/Evang. We have started a new month this week and to kick it off we will be showing the Nebraska Football Game on Saturday October 3rd at 2:30 pm. Then on Monday October 5th is our monthly Volunteer Executive meeting at 2:30 pm, on Thursday October 8th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica.

Church Service for Oct.4th at 2:30 pm will be given by St. John Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. There has been a change for Communion with Pastor Hoden it has been canceled for this week and moved to next week October 14th.

Activities for the week of October 5th   to October 10th , are as followed,  Reading with Marilyn, Game Day, Sing a Long, Reading Group, Bingo w/WOW, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Nebraska Football, and Saturday morning movie.

We had a nice turnout for the Grandparents Day Potluck on Sunday it was nice to see everyone here, the residents really enjoyed it. Also this week is our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday September 17th serving from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

We have a very Special Birthday for Lorna Olson this week on the 19th she will be turning 100 years old, and next week a Happy Birthday to Dale Johnson on the 24th

Church Service for September 20th at 2:30 pm will be given by Elim Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Monday September 21st at 2:30 pm is Communion with the First Lutheran Church.

Activities for the week of September 21st to September 25th , are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Game Day, Sing a Long, Coffee and Conversation, Bingo w/Methodist, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, General Store, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo and Saturday morning movie.

This week we have Charlie Davis coming on Thursday September 10th at 2:30 pm. And on Saturday September 12th we will be showing the Nebraska Football game at 7:00 pm on the Big Ten Network. On Sunday September 13th is Grandparents Day and we will be having our annual Grandparents Day Potluck at noon, we invite the residents family members to come and have a potluck dinner with them, as it is a potluck we encourage family members to bring a dish. Next week on Monday September 14th is our monthly Volunteer Ex. Meeting at 2:30 pm; on Tuesday September 15th we will be going to Golden Oaks for their Potluck Dinner at 11:30 am. Next week we also have our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday September 17th serving from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Our birthdays that coming up are Tiny Bacon on the 11th, Jene Hightree on the 16th, and a Special Birthday for Lorna Olson on the 19th she will be turning 100 years old.

There will be no Church Service on Sunday the 13th due to the Grandparents Day Potluck dinner.

We have a couple of events to mention going on this week, on Thursday September 3 is Teresa Egbers 30 year Employee Anniversary party at 2:30 pm and on Saturday is the start of the Nebraska Football season, we will be showing the game at 2:30 pm, it is Nebraska vs. BYU., also this weekend is the start of the Labor day weekend.

Next week on Monday September 7th is Labor Day; there will be no Monday activities for this day. On Thursday September 10th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica. We have a resident celebrating a birthday next week, Happy Birthday to Tiny Bacon on September 11th.

Church Service for Sept. 6th at 2:30 pm will be given by Craig/Alder Grove Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

Just a reminder this week is on Thursday August 20th is the monthly Waffle Supper serving from 5:30 to 6:00 pm. On Saturday August 22nd is Iva Anderson’s Birthday her family will be serving the resident’s ice cream and cake at 3:00 pm. We also have several residents celebrating their birthday’s next week Jackie Caldwell on August 24th, Teresa Bowman on August 26th and Anita Beckner on August 29th. On Tuesday August 25th is a Puttin on the Ritz dinner for the residents at 11:30 am.

We have some staff celebrating anniversaries next week on Monday August 24th at 10:00 am we will be serving coffee and rolls for Enola Greve and Stefanie Bicking, celebrating 5years of employment, on Wednesday August 26th is Rex Landholm 20 year employment Anniversary party at 3:00 pm.

Church Service for August 23rd at 2:30 pm will be given by Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday August 25th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass with Father Paul.
