Constance “Connie” Marlene (Pittenger) Denker, 78, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson; with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

Connie was born September 16, 1937 in Jackson, Nebraska to Edward C. and Violet C. (Johnson) Pittenger. She attended and graduated from Jackson High School in 1953. She continued her education earning a teaching certificate in 1956 from Wayne Teachers College. Connie taught country school in Dixon and Dakota County.

Connie was a member of the Good Neighbors Extension Club, she was a Sunday School Teacher and an LCW member and officer. Connie also served as the bookkeeper for the Emerson Rural Fire District. She enjoyed baking, especially apple pies, making jelly, collecting stamps, crocheting and reading.

Connie is survived by her sons, Fred Denker of Emerson, NE, David Jon Denker of Emerson, NE, Jim Denker (Jill Matousek) of Dakota Dunes, SD; daughters, Joanne (Todd) Von Seggern of Pender, NE, Jeanine (Todd) Hale of Atkinson, NE; sisters, Beverly Baker of Sioux City, IA, Evelyn Schimmel of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Ed Pittenger of Bondurant, IA, John Pittenger of Sioux City, IA; and 6 grandchildren.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents and husband David Denker.

Judith Ann (Thorson) Anderson, 79, of Pender, NE, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at her home in Pender. Funeral services will be Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE; Pastor Miles Ruch is officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender. Judy was born October 6, 1935 to Edwin B. and Ruth M. (Olson) Thorson in Elk Point, SD. She attended and graduated from Elk Point High School. Judy married Billy Anderson in Elk Point on March 2, 1958. The couple had five children. The family moved to Pender in 1961. Judy was a dedicated farm wife and mother for several years. Her family moved to town in 1984, where she cooked at the nursing home until her retirement. She spent her retirement babysitting her grandchildren, and later on attending as many of their activities as possible.

Judy was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Martha Circle. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, watching soaps and movies, and her cat, “Fluffy.” Above all things, she loved spending time with her family.

Margaret Eileen (Hogen) Rooney, 93, of Hubbard, NE, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard, NE; with Father Paul Albenisius officiating. The visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Hubbard, NE. Marge was born March 12, 1922 in Waterbury, NE to Joseph and Rose (Gill) Hogan. She graduated from Waterbury High School. On November 5, 1941, Marge married Thomas Benidick Rooney at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard. The couple had seven children.

Marge was a member of St. Mary’s Parish where she was active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of Harty McNally Legion Auxiliary. Marge loved playing cards, quilting and embroidering, and making cookies for the neighborhood kids.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Rooney of Chicago, IL, Mark (Karen) Rooney of Chicago, IL, Tim (Cynthia) Rooney of Centerville, VA; daughters, Rosemary Killian of Port Byron, IL, Jeannie (Blaine) Gaer of Pender, NE, Monica (Bob) McKay of Des Moines, IA; daughter-in-law Sue Rooney of Jackson, NE, 25 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Adell was born on September 4, 1918 in Wayne County, NE, the daughter of Herman Sr. and Della (Suhr) Essmann. On January 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Harold Lueders. To this union one son Larry was born. Adell and Harold farmed in the Emerson, NE area their entire adult life. On January 21, 2011, Harold passed away. She continued to live at home until just recently when her health caused her to move into Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home. Adell enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and enjoyed baking and cooking.

She is survived by her son Larry Lueders of Emerson, NE, one grandson and a great grandson; brother Herman Jr. (Arlene) Essmann of Pender, NE, sisters Mae Kidwell of Bancroft, NE and Hermina Leimer of Truman, MN; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Glen and Helen Lueders of Emerson, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

Adell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, sisters Pauline Benson and Dorothy Otteman, and brother-in-law’s: Harold Otteman, Johnny Zwygart and Gerhardt Leimer.
