Wayne Allen, 84, of Pender NE


Wayne M. Allen, 84, of Pender, NE, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Pastor Miles Ruch will be officiating. The visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Burial will be in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.

Wayne was born on May 18, 1931 in Onawa, IA the son of Glen and Mabel (Solien) Allen. He graduated from Whiting High School in 1949. After graduation, Wayne farmed near Whiting and Hinton, IA. On November 4, 1951, he married Sally Carlson in Whiting, IA. To this union five children were born: Peggy, Linda, Rusty, Rory and Kay. The couple moved to Pender in 1960 where he farmed. Wayne had a love for farming and took great pride and joy in his yard. He also loved his many autos, motorcycles, and traveling. Most of all, Wayne loved spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by his wife; Sally of Pender, NE, sons; Rusty (Laurie) Allen, Rory (Carol) Allen of Pender, NE, daughters; Linda (Larry) Simonsen of Pender, NE, Kay (Kerry) Frerk of La Grange, IL, Eleven grandchildren: Tony (Angela) Simonsen, Travis (Alison) Simonsen, Lance (Hali) Allen, Reed (Heidi) Allen, Jordan Frerk, Justin Frerk, Brooke (Jason) Huisenga, Shanna Simonsen, Trisha Simonsen, Courtney Allen, and Kayci (Steven) Ready. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter; Peggy, brothers; Leland, Dorance and Robert Allen and his sisters; Genevieve Flannery, Betty Jane Schneider, and Mona Uhlarik.

Janis Joyce Zvacek, 68, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at her home in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE, with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. In Lieu, of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.

Janis was born January 13, 1947 in West Point, NE to Lambert and Dorothea (Lorenzen) Zvacek. She attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1965, and attended college at Wayne State College. Janis worked for Postal Finance for many years, Central United and most recently before retiring in December 2013 for Kramer Ernest and Swedean CPA in Sioux City. Janis enjoyed cross stitching and belonged to The Embroiderers’ Guild of America – Sioux City Chapter and the American Needlepoint Guild. She was also a member of the Pender VFW Auxiliary. Most of all, Janis loved spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews.

Janis is survived by her sister, Frances (Dale) Anderson of Bancroft, NE; brother, Dennis (Nancy) Zvacek of Pender, NE; nieces, Sherry (Ryan) Roeber of Bancroft, NE, Aimee (Chris) Ibsen of Roca, NE, Tami (Mark) Nelson of Bancroft, NE, Andrea (Dustin) Holtz of Beemer, NE; nephews, Collin Zvacek and friend Amber of Pender, NE, Todd Anderson of Bancroft, NE, Rodney Zvacek of Pender, NE and many other great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Janis is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant nephew Scott Alan Anderson.

Janice was born May 28, 1937 to Herman and Edith (Drews) Koopman in Pender, NE. She was baptized October 3, 1937 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Janice was united in marriage to Lester Kubik on March 13, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. To this union, three children were born. Janice worked many years at Heritage of Emerson as a laundry aide and cook. She is survived by her sons; Rick (Kay) Kubik of White Bear Lake, MN, Richard Kubik of Emerson, NE, daughter; Nancy (Ted) Hassler of Big Lake, MN, two grandchildren; Dalton and Lauren Hassler of Big Lake, MN, sister; Millie (Orville) Zeisler of Emerson, NE, brother; Ken Koopman of Christchurch, New Zealand, half-sister; Becky (Bob) Comstock of Rapid City, SD, step brother; Kenneth Kruse, two stepsisters; ReAnn Forsberg and Ardyce Osbahr, and many nieces and nephews.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, step mother; Adella Koopman, husband; Lester on December 31, 2007, two brothers, three sisters, and two step sisters.

Norma was born February 19, 1927 to Victor and Mabel (Lindgren) Schincke in Pender, NE. She attended and graduated from Pender High School. On June 26, 1948, Norma married John Meierdierks in Elk Point, SD. The couple had three children. Norma worked in the courthouse for many years and prepared the bookwork for Meierdierks Hardware. In her free time, Norma enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Norma is survived by her sons, Byron Meierdierks of Pender, NE, Bruce (Kay) Meierdierks of Pender, NE; daughter, Karen (Randy) Tietz of Pender, NE; sister, Amber Simm of Cleghorn, IA; brother, Dale (Florence) Schincke of Dakota Dunes, SD; one grandchild, three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, who passed away November 17, 2010, and an infant sister, Beverly.

Dorothy L. Frese, 98, of Pender, Nebraska died on Thursday, July 09, 2015 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Pender; Pastor Robert Schilling will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Pender is in charge of the services.

Dorothy was born on September 4, 1916 in Ainsworth, NE, the daughter of Rev. Frederick and Helen (Leimer) Eggert. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School South of Beemer, NE. On June 6, 1937, Dorothy was united in marriage to Elmer Frese at St. John’s Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born; Dennis and Barb. They made their home on a farm near Pender. For thirty-five years, Dorothy worked in the laundry department at the Pender Community Hospital. On January 31, 1985, Elmer passed away. Dorothy was a member of LWMLand St. John’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. She was also active in the Pender Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son Dennis (Bev) Frese of Pender, NE, daughter Barb (Gary) Malmberg of O’Neill, NE, a sister Madeline Ward of Omaha, NE, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Elmer, six brothers and three sisters.
