Bernice Stella (Rager) Fendrick, 91, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson. Funeral services will be Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson; Pastor Gretchen Ritola and Vicar Will Storm will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Bernice was born January 10, 1924 to Thomas, Sr. and Emma (Bourelle) Rager in Pender, NE. Bernice was the seventh of nine children. She married Adolph Fendrick October 12, 1942 in West Point, NE. The two met at a dance at the Dutch Hall and farmed for many years east of Emerson. Bernice and Adolph were married for 56 years before he passed away December 30, 1998. Bernice was a member of the Thurston Legion Auxiliary, The Happy Hour Club, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Bernice loved fishing, playing cards, flowers, cooking, reading cook books, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Buck) Ahlers of Emerson, NE, Barb (Gary) Millard of Emerson, NE; sons, Rick (Babe) Fendrick of Thurston, NE, Ron (Dee) Fendrick of Emerson, NE; brother Walt (Helen) Rager or Ravanna, NE; sister Daisy Pointer of Emerson, NE, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph; two brothers; four sisters; daughter-in-law, Barb Fendrick; grandson, Joe Kent, and great grandson Nathan Paulsen.

Jean (Tietz) Rebensdorf, 85, of Pender, Nebraska passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Legacy Garden Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pender. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jean was born March 9, 1930 to Merle and Lovey (Padget) Northrop in Cody, Nebraska. As a young child the family moved to California. They later moved to the Bancroft, Nebraska area where she later met and married Harold Tietz on August 27, 1950. To this union four children were born: Pam, Randy, Rick and Lori. Jean and Harold farmed in the Bancroft area until his death on September 10, 1975. She later married Vernon Rebensdorf and they made their home in Pender, where she worked with the elderly as an in home care giver. Due to her health, Jean entered the Legacy Garden Rehabilitation in April of 2010. Jean enjoyed Southern Gospel and country music, crocheting, knitting, shopping and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by her children: Pam (Dave) Meierdierks of Pender, NE, Randy (Karen) Tietz of Pender, NE and Lori Cannon of Wisner, NE. Jean is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Melissa Meierdierks, Jaime Cook, Candice Jewell, Joshua and Tyler Cannon, Connor and Kyle Tietz, five great-grandchildren: William and Wesley Fragale, Chandler, Joslynn and Corissa Jewell and two great-great grandchildren Weston and Bentley Miller.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Merle and Lovey Northrop, spouses Harold Tietz and Vernon Rebensdorf, son Ricky Tietz and brothers Lyle, Neal and Harold Northrop.

Walter Gustave Albrecht, 97, of Thurston, NE, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson; Pastor Gretchen Ritola is officiating and Vicar William Storm. Visitation will be Monday, April 6 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE. Walter was born on February 23, 1918 on a farm near Foster in Pierce County, NE to George and Rose (Pates) Albrecht. The family then moved to a farm near Orchard, NE and at six years of age in 1924 they moved back near family to farm in rural Thurston County, a quarter of a mile away from the farm that Walter and Violet lived on for the rest their lives. He was baptized by an Evangelical Lutheran minister on April 14, 1918. He was confirmed on Palm Sunday, April 13, 1930 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson by Pastor Hugo Welchert. He attended Sunny Side District 24 public school through 8th grade and later attended the University of Nebraska Ag College at Lincoln for two winter terms. He began his lifelong career of farming and livestock raising with his father and two brothers. Walter also did some trucking. On June 24, 1942 Walter was united in marriage to Violet Joy Gutzmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. They purchased a farm next to his parents. Six children were born to this family. As the family grew over the years so did the farm. He continued to remain actively involved in farming and raising livestock until his death. He held many positions of responsibility during his lifetime. Besides being a devoted husband and father, he was a lifelong member and former councilman and treasurer of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Walther also served on several church committees, several terms including president of the Emerson-Hubbard School Board; a member of the Pender Hospital Board, the Emerson Rural Fire Board for 27 years, the Thurston and later Thurston/Dakota County Fair Board. He served several terms as an officer of the Merry Township board, and he was a former master of his Masonic Lodge and held the 32 degree. He served on the County ASC board, and was honored for being a member of the Thurston County Farm Bureau for the longest time. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Violet; and their six children: Judy Ann (Herb) Barelman of Bellevue, NE, Walter Richard Albrecht of Ainsworth and Emerson, NE, Robert William (Connie) Albrecht, Dr. James Loren (Kathy) Albrecht of Emerson, and Michael David (Joni) Albrecht of Thurston, NE, and Terry Lee (Julie) Albrecht of Thurston, NE; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Bonnie Dahms, Irene Albrecht, Joanne Albrecht, Lavone Gutzmann; and brother-in-law Leonard Gutzmann, many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Mary (Mike) Albrecht, grandson Aaron Albrecht (Terry and Julie) and great grandson Francis Albrecht (Tristan and Kara), brothers George Albrecht, Lester Albrecht, sister and brother-in laws, William and Elaine Gutzmann, Lewis and Eleanor Gutzmann, Donna Lou Gutzmann, Leslie Earl Gutzmann, and Wayne Dahms.

Ora B. (Wolfe) Tippery, 90, of Walthill, Nebraska passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE; with Pastor Brion Tolzman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Siouxland. Ora was born November 30, 1924 near Bancroft, NE to Harry and Margaret (Sorensen) Wolfe. She was baptized November 13, 1932 and confirmed May 19, 1940. On May 31, 1941 Ora married Eldon Tippery. Together they lived in the Walthill area for most of their lives. She was a cook in the Walthill School for 22 years. In 2003, Ora moved to Burbank, Washington to live with her son, after his passing in 2005 she returned to Walthill. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Chruch and the Ladies Aid Organization. Ora was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

Ora is survived by 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ora is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon in 1982; sons Paul in 2005, Tom in 1983 and Edward in 1959; 1 grandson; 1 great granddaughter; sisters, Marie Collins, Ella Potts and Leona Hightree; brothers Floyd Nottleman, Harold Nottleman, Bill Nottleman and Marvin Nottleman.
