National Nursing Home Week at Oakland Heights

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who came up last week and helped with the carnival games we had in celebration of National Nursing Home week. This week we have our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday May 19th serving from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and on Saturday May 21st the Rusty Buckets will be here to perform at 2:30 pm. Next week we have our resident council meeting on Monday May 23rd at 2:30 pm., on Thursday May 26th is the General Store for the residents from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. And celebrating a birthday next week is Alice Lindgren on May 28th.

Church Service for Sunday May 22nd   at 2:30 pm will be given by the Evangelical Free Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday May 24th is Catholic Mass at 9:30 am given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of May 23rd   to May 27th   are as follows, Reading with Jill, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo the w/Staff, Reading Group,   Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Volunteers signing in last week were; Judy Nelson, Judy Dix, Mary Donavan, Anne Anderson, Patty Miller, Lola Bridgeford, Bonnie Fleischman, Pat Anderson, Nadine Anderson, Sly Rouse, and Seth Anderson.

Guests here last week were: Lynn Goracke and Janelle Van Scoy to see Dale and Jeanette Johnson. Kathy Paul to see Margaret Moderow.

Happenings at Oakland Heights: Mother’s Day Tea, Nations Nursing Home Week

The month of May is here, and National Nursing Home Week starts next week. We begin with our Mother’s Day Tea Party on Monday May 9th at 2:30 pm with entertainment with Two Gals and a song. On Tuesday May 10th is our around the World Hat day and we be having entertainment with the Arthrightious Brothers at 2:30 pm and serving Root beer Floats. Then on Wednesday May 11th is our Cowboy day and we will be having a cookout for the residents and at 2:30 pm Entertainment with Ron Schulzkump. On Thursday May 12th is the first day of our World’s Fair, at 2:30 pm we will be having carnival games and food for the residents. And on Friday May 13th is the second day of our World’s Fair, starting with a Staff and Resident Let’s Play Ball Tournament at 10:00 am, then in the afternoon we will be having a Circus in the Front parking lot of the Nursing Home, there will be many animals, a clown and we will be serving watermelon. It looks to be a fun week for all.

Church Service for Sunday May 8th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church   with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday May 10th is Catholic Mass with Father Paul at 9:30 am.

Activities for the week of May 9th to May 14th are as follows, Reading with Jill, Sing a Long, Bingo the w/Evang. Free, Bible Fellowship, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Activity Memorial Fund

National Nursing Home Week at Oakland Heights

We have one event I would like to mention for this week on Friday May 8th at 2:30pm is Betty Hasenkamp 15 year Anniversary party. On Sunday Mary 10th is Mother’s Day, on Monday May 11th is the start of National Nursing Home Week the theme this year is Bring on the Fiesta, at 2:30 pm we will start the celebration with our Mother’s Day Tea Party with entertainment by Mary Goff. On Tuesday May 12th is Trivia Day we will be having trivia questioned asked throughout the day for Residents and staff also, at 2:30pm is the Limbo Contest and Nacho Bar. Wednesday May 13th is Cowboy Day starting with a Chuck wagon dinner meal at 11:30 am and at 2:30 pm is country music by Billy Troy followed by Coffee and Cow Patties. Thursday May 14th is our Fiesta Day starting with an 11:30 am Taco Salad Bar for dinner and at 2:30 pm Sombrero Toss Game and Churros. On Friday May 15th is Baseball Day we will have a Let’s Play Ball Tournament with Staff and Residents at 10:00 am and in the afternoon at 2:30 Staff and Residents get to take a swing at some Piñatas and serving Fruit Plate. On Saturday May 16th Rusty Buckets will be here to perform at 2; 30 pm.

Church Service for May 10th at 2:30 pm will be given by Evangelical Free Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday May 12th there will be Catholic Mass at 9:30 am given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of May 11th to May 16th, are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Sing a Long, Bingo w/Evang. Free, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, and Saturday morning movie.

This is a busy week with many activities planned. It is National Nursing Home week. We kicked off the week on Monday with a Mother’s Day Tea Party. The rest of the week will be activities that go along with the theme for this year’s Nursing home week “Living the Aloha Spirit. Saturday May 17th the Rusty Buckets will be here at 2:30 pm. Next week we will have a back to normal week of activities.

Church service for Sunday May18th at 2:30 pm will be given by the  First United Methodist Church with refreshments served afterwards. Monday May 19th is Communion with First Lutheran Church.

Activities for the week of May 19th to May 24th are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/Salem , Bible Fellowship, General Store, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Saturday morning movie and Lawrence Welk.
