Halloween Update From Oakland

With the cooperation of the chamber, school, and city it looks like there will be a move towards conducting normal trick-or-treat activities in the City that Thursday evening (the 30th ) since all the school groups and little ones will already be dressed up and out-and-about.

This will also be a good idea since Oakland-Craig Knights will host a Home Playoff Football game on Friday the 31st at 6 PM.

Everyone can enjoy Halloween on Thursday and then enjoy the Knights on Friday.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN whether you celebrate on Thursday or Friday and make it fun and safe!!

Knights Down Tigers in a Thriller

The Oakland-Craig Knights took on long-time rival Tekamah-Herman Tigers at home last Friday night.

The game was a thriller, but the Knights prevailed, downing the Tigers soundly 36-12.

“Our number one goal was that we wanted to get out to a fast start and get a lead early in the game.  I thought we did a good job of accomplishing that,” stated head coach Joe Anderson.

Nick Arlt had 376 yards rushing in the game on 79 carries. Others exploded, creating some excitement of their own.

“Our line came out and really created a good push and Nick was doing a great job of finding the cut back lane and created some big plays. One of the biggest plays of the game was Mace’s TD pass to Bryce. Both guys made great plays and that really opened things up for us,” Anderson said. “I wished we would have played with that same intensity in the 4th quarter, as I thought we did not finish the game as strong a I would have liked.”

The defense responded well too with Nick Arlt leading the way in tackles, having 17, followed by Tyler Groth, Bryce Uhing and Tommy Nelson with six each.

“I thought our defense played really well most of the game. Tekamah relies heavily on the big play, and we did a good job of shutting that part of their game down for 3 quarters,” Anderson stated. “Our kids did a good job of recognizing where their playmakers were at, and we were assignment sound most of the night.”

The Knights moved up four places in class C2 to seventh. They take on Crofton this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Oakland.
