May is here and what a fun month we have planned for this month during National Nursing Home week. On Monday May 4th is our Volunteer Ex. Meeting at 2:30pm. On Friday May 8th at 2:30 pm is a 15 year Employee Anniversary Party for Betty Hasenkamp.

Church Service for May 3rd at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday May 6th at 1:00 pm is Communion with Pastor Hoden.

Activities for the week of May 4th to May 9th , are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Reading Group, Bingo w/LCW, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Friday Bingo, and Saturday morning movie.

It was nice to see all of the beautiful Prom outfits that the OC students wore last Saturday the residents enjoy seeing the students all dressed up. The winners of the $25.00 drawing for the seniors that signed in Saturday night are Ashleigh Carr and Bryce Uhing. Next week is the Resident Council Meeting at 2:30 pm on Monday April 27th , next week we is also the beginning of the month of May so on Tuesday April 28th at 2:30 pm we will be making May Baskets for the Assisted Living residents.

Church Service for April 26th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards.

Activities for the week of April 27th to May 2nd , are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Crafts, Bingo w/VFW Aux., Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Friday Bingo, and Saturday morning movie.

It’s was nice to see everyone up here for the Volunteer appreciation coffee that we had last Saturday, and I would like to thank Collin Warren for the entertainment he provided. This week on Thursday April 16th is the monthly Waffle supper serving from 5:30pm to 6:00pm. On Saturday April 18th the Rusty Buckets will be here at 2:30pm.

Next Week on Tuesday April 21st is funny hat day and at 2:30pm we will be having Banana floats. And on Thursday April 23rd we will be having the General Store opened for the resident from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

Church Service for April 19th at 2:30 pm will be given by St. John Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards.

Activities for the week of April 20th to April 24th , are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Reminiscing Group, Sing a Long, Coffee and Conversation, Bingo w/Methodist, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper,     Let’s Play Ball, Friday Bingo, and Saturday morning movie.

We have a very special event coming up this week, on Saturday April 11th is our Volunteer Appreciation Coffee from to 2pm to 4pm, along with Colin Warren playing the piano, it is for anyone who volunteers their time and comes up to enlighten the lives of our residents please come so that we may show you how much you are appreciated. We also would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Carolyn Lutes on April 12th.

Next week we will be going to Golden Oaks potluck dinner on Tuesday April 14th at 11:15 pm. On Thursday April 16th is our monthly Waffle Supper at 5:30 pm and on Saturday April 18th at 2:30pm the Rusty Buckets will be her to perform and also on Saturday from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm is the OC High School Prom walk through, so all OC Juniors and Seniors are invited to come walk through and show off their Prom outfits to the residents.

Church Service for April 12th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday April 14th at 9:30am is Catholic Mass with Father Paul.

Well this is the start of a new month this week and it is also Easter week, we have several Easter activities going on this week. On Friday will be our Good Friday Church Service at 2:30pm. On Saturday April 4th is the Lions Club annual Easter Egg Hunt here at Oakland Heights starting at 2:00pm for Ages 8 years and under. And on Easter Sunday the Nursing Home is having their annual Easter Brunch at 8:00 am, so come up and have breakfast with the residents.

Next week on Monday April 6th at 2:30 pm is the monthly Volunteer Executive Meeting on Thursday April 9th Charlie Davis will be here to play his harmonica at 2:30 pm. And on Saturday April 11th is the Volunteer Appreciation Coffee from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. This is for all the volunteers that come up to the nursing home and help out, we want to show all of you how much we appreciate what you do.

Church Service for Easter Sunday April 5th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First United Methodist Church with a luncheon served afterwards.

Activities for the week of April 6th to April 10th are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Coffee and Conversation, Sing a Long, Bingo w/WOW Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Walk.

I hope everyone was able to get outside this past week what nice weather we had. This week we have a spring event going on, on Friday March 27th is our Easter Bazaar from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm lots of baked goods, Easter gifts, and misc. come in and take a look. Next week is Easter week and on Monday March 30th is our monthly resident council meeting at 2:30 pm. the n on Saturday April 4th the annual Lyons Club Easter egg Hunt for 8 and under starting at 2:00 pm.

Church Service for Palm Sunday March 29th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Craig/Alder Grove Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Thursday April 2nd at 2:30 pm we will have a Maundy church service with Pastor Eldal. And on Friday April 3rd   we will be having a Good Friday Church service at 2:30 pm with Pastor Hoden.

Happenings at the Heights


We would like to thank first National Bank for sponsoring the Gary Weldon show. The residents sure enjoyed having him do the entertainment for the St. Patrick’s party.

Activities for the week of March 23rd to March 28th are: Reading with Marilyn, manicures, reading group, sing-a-long, Catholic Mass, crafts, bingo with Methodist Church, game day, bible fellowship, word games and the Easter Bazaar from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th.

We have a couple of announcements for this week on Thursday March 12th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm we will have the general store for residents. On Friday March 13th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm is the Oakland Heights Relay for Life team Walkin and a Wheelin towards a cure Salad Luncheon fundraiser at the Rosen Room, city auditorium. Next week on Tuesday March 17th is the St. Patrick’s Day Party with entertainment by Gary Weldon. Then on Thursday March 19th is the monthly Waffle Supper and the Rusty Buckets will be here on Saturday March 21st at 2:30pm.

Church Service for Sunday March 15th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Monday March 16th is Communion with First Lutheran at 2:30pm.

We have three birthday’s this week Mildred Moseman on March 2nd, Bertha Mellor, and Don Heaffner on March 6th Happy Birthday to all. Next week is a busy week on Tuesday March 10th we will be going to Golden Oaks for the noon potluck, (weather permitting), also at 2:30 pm is our Ugly Tie Contest and Root beer floats. On Thursday March 12th is the general store from 1:30 to 3:30 for the residents to come and do some shopping. On Friday March 13th is the Oakland Heights Relay for life team’s Salad Luncheon at the Rosen Room from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Also a reminder next weekend we return to daylights saving time on Sunday March 8th.

Church Service for Sunday March 8th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday March 10th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

We have another resident having a birthday next week Bertha Mellor celebrates hers on March 6th.
