This week there is one change to the calendar of events on Thursday August 28th we will be having the general store from 1:30 to 3:30 for the resident to come and do some shopping. On Saturday August 30th is the first Nebraska game at 2:30 pm we will be showing it in the front Lobby for residents to watch. We also start a new month next week starting on Monday September 1stwhich is also Labor Day, on Wednesday September 3rd is Sandy Frances 30 year Anniversary Party at 2:30 pm it will be celebrated in the Assisted Living Dinning room. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Dorothy Brader who celebrates a birthday on September 3rd. Then on Saturday September 6th Nebraska takes on McNeese State at 11:00 am.

Church Service for Sunday August 21st at 2:30 pm will be given by the United Methodist Church with refreshments served afterwards.

Activities for the week of Sept. 1st to Sept 6th , are as follows, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/WOW, Crafts, Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

Activity Memorial Fund

We would like to thank Bev Peterson for bring up and displaying her mother’s Hats, the residents really enjoyed it. We have several birthdays coming up next week, Happy Birthday to Jackie Caldwell on August 24th, Teresa Bowman on August 26th and Anita Beckner on August 29th. This week we have Waffle supper on Thursday August 21st at 5:30 pm. Next week on Monday August 25th is the monthly Resident council meeting at 2:30 pm and on Thursday August 28th we will be having Bomb pops on the patio at 2:30 pm. , and on Saturday August 30th is the first Nebraska football game of the season at 2:30 pm we will be showing it for the residents to watch.

Church Service for Sunday August 24th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Craig-Alder Grove Church with refreshments served afterwards. Tuesday August 26th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of August 25th to August 30th , are as follows, , Reading with Marilyn, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/Methodist, Reading Group, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

We have a fun week ahead, on Thursday August 14th at 2:30 pm Charlie Davis will be here to play his Harmonica, on Saturday August 16th the Rusty Buckets will be here at 2:30pm to perform. We have several Birthday’s coming up on August 16th is Lois Anderson and John Dekker, and next week on August 22nd is Iva Andersons, Happy Birthday to all. Also next week is our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday August 21st at 5:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday August 17th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Evang. Free Church with refreshments served afterwards. Monday August 18th at 2:30 pm is Communion with First Lutheran.

Activities for the week of August 18th to August 23rd, are as follows, , Reading with Marilyn, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/Salem., Reading Group, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

We will be going to Golden Oaks for their potluck on Tuesday August 12th at 11:15 pm and also that day the PR Committee will be having Brownie Sundaes for the residents at 2:30 pm. On Thursday Charlie Davis will be here to play his Harmonica at 2:30 pm and on Saturday August 16th the Rusty Buckets will be performing at 2:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday August 10th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with refreshments served afterwards.

I would like to thank all of the volunteers for their help last Friday, and also those who donated pies for the Ice Cream Social, it was a good turnout. It is nice to have such a supportive community as we do here in Oakland.

We have two residents celebrating a Birthday’s this week and next. Joan Price on July 31st and Ann Gahan on August 6th.

Next week on August 4th at 9:15 am we will be going down to the Fair Grounds for pie, coffee and go through the Exhibit buildings also at 2:30 pm is our monthly Volunteer Executive meeting. And on Thursday August 7th is Lori Peterson will be having her 5 year Anniversary party at 2:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday August 3rd at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Methodist Church with refreshments served afterwards. On Wednesday August 6th at 1:00 pm is Communion with Pastor Steve Hoden.

Activities for the week of August 4th to August 8th are as followed, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/WOW, Reading Group, Bible Fellowship,   Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

It turned out to be a nice weekend, summer has returned. I have one special announcement for this week our Annual Ice Cream Social is this coming Friday July 25th at 7:00 pm. We will be serving Pie, Coffee, and Ice Cream, with entertainment by Ron Schulzkump. So come by, enjoy, and cool off. Next week we will be having the monthly Resident Council meeting on Monday July 28th at 2:30 pm. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Laverne Johnson on July 27th and Joan Price on July 31st.

Church Service for Sunday July 27th at 2:30 pm will be given by the St. John Lutheran Church with refreshments served afterwards.

We have come to the middle of the month and with that comes our monthly Waffle Supper this Thursday July 17th at 5:30 pm and on Saturday July 19th the Rusty Buckets will be here to sing at 2:30pm. Next week we will be having a Puttin on the Ritz Grill out for the Residents at 11:30 on Tuesday July 22nd and we have a special event on Friday July 25th at 7:00 pm it is our annual funder raiser Ice Cream Social for the Activity Department, we will have entertainment with Ron Schulzkamp, the funds raised help pay for outings for the Residents, seasonal decorations, entertainment, crafts, etc. So come down and enjoy in some ice cream, pie, coffee and entertainment.

We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Betty Krutilek she celebrates her birthday on July 21st.

Church Service for Sunday July20th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with refreshments served afterwards. On Tuesday July 22nd at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

We celebrate the 4th of July this week, on Thursday July 3rd residents are invited to set outside at dusk and watch the fireworks that will be going on down at the city park for the Party in the Park. On Monday July 7th is the Volunteer Executive meeting at 2:30 pm. On Tuesday July 8th at 11:15 am we will be going to Golden Oaks for their potluck dinner, on Thursday July 10 at 2:30 pm Charlie Davis will be here to entertain, and on Saturday July 12th at 7:00 pm will be the Saturday night movie.

Celebrating a Birthday this week on July 5th Happy Birthday wishes to Kenny Thompson.

Church Service for Sunday July 6th   at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with refreshments served afterwards. On Tuesday July 8th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass by Father Paul.

This week we will be having a new entertainer starting our monthly line up; on Thursday June 12 Charlie Davis will be here to perform at 2:30 pm. This Sunday June 15th is Father’s Day and we would like to wish all Father’s out there a good day. On Monday June 16th is our Father’s Day Dinner at 11:30 am down in the Family Dining Room, each Male Resident can have one family member accompany them. One Wednesday June 18th at 2:00 pm we will be taking a Van ride. On Thursday June 19th is our monthly Waffle Supper at 5:30 pm, and to end up the week on Saturday June 21st the Rusty Buckets will be here to sing.

Church Service for Sunday June15th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with refreshments served afterwards. On Monday June 16th at 2:30 pm is Communion with First Lutheran and on Tuesday June 17th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.
