Happenings at the Heights


We would like to thank first National Bank for sponsoring the Gary Weldon show. The residents sure enjoyed having him do the entertainment for the St. Patrick’s party.

Activities for the week of March 23rd to March 28th are: Reading with Marilyn, manicures, reading group, sing-a-long, Catholic Mass, crafts, bingo with Methodist Church, game day, bible fellowship, word games and the Easter Bazaar from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th.

Volunteers signing in last week were: Marrilyn Baker, Betty Hanna, Judy Nelson, Donna Baldwin, Mary Donovan, Patty Miller, Dani Moseman, Mary Fritts, Cathi McMurtry, Connie Fager and Sly Rouse.

We have a couple of announcements for this week on Thursday March 12th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm we will have the general store for residents. On Friday March 13th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm is the Oakland Heights Relay for Life team Walkin and a Wheelin towards a cure Salad Luncheon fundraiser at the Rosen Room, city auditorium. Next week on Tuesday March 17th is the St. Patrick’s Day Party with entertainment by Gary Weldon. Then on Thursday March 19th is the monthly Waffle Supper and the Rusty Buckets will be here on Saturday March 21st at 2:30pm.

Church Service for Sunday March 15th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Baptist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Monday March 16th is Communion with First Lutheran at 2:30pm.

Activities for the week of March 16th to March 21st are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Bingo w/ Salem Covenant, Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Friday Bingo, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Saturday morning movie, Rusty Buckets, and Lawrence Walk.

We have three birthday’s this week Mildred Moseman on March 2nd, Bertha Mellor, and Don Heaffner on March 6th Happy Birthday to all. Next week is a busy week on Tuesday March 10th we will be going to Golden Oaks for the noon potluck, (weather permitting), also at 2:30 pm is our Ugly Tie Contest and Root beer floats. On Thursday March 12th is the general store from 1:30 to 3:30 for the residents to come and do some shopping. On Friday March 13th is the Oakland Heights Relay for life team’s Salad Luncheon at the Rosen Room from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Also a reminder next weekend we return to daylights saving time on Sunday March 8th.

Church Service for Sunday March 8th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday March 10th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of March 9th to March 14th, are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Reading Group, Sing a Long, Word Games, Bingo w/Evang. Free, Bible Fellowship, Reading the Local Paper, Let’s Play Ball, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Walk.

         Starting a new month next week on Monday March 2nd we will be having the monthly Volunteer Executive Meeting at 2:30 pm, also on Monday at 3:00 pm there will cake served for Mildred Moseman Birthday her birthday is the following Day on March 3rd. We have another resident having a birthday next week Bertha Mellor celebrates hers on March 6th.

Church Service for Sunday March 1st at 2:30 pm will be given by the St. John Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday March 4th at 1:00 pm is Communion with Pastor Hoden.

It was a nice Valentines dinner that was served on Saturday, the resident really enjoyed it, we also crowned this year’s Valentine King and Queen last Friday at the Valentine party, we would like to congratulate this year’s King John Dekker and Queen Doris Anderson and would like to thank Judy Nelson and Patty Miller for providing the entertainment for the party. This week we have our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday February 19th at 5:30 pm. On Saturday February 21st the Rusty Buckets will be here to perform at 2:30 pm. Also a Happy Birthday to Wilma Neitzke on Friday February 20th, Wilma turns 102 this year. Next week on Monday February 23rd is the Resident council meeting at 2:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday February 23rd at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday this week February 18th at 2:30 pm is an Ash Wednesday serve given by Pastor Hoden. Next Tuesday February 24th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

We have a fun week ahead .Our Valentine Party on Friday February 13th at 2:30 pm were we will be crowning the Oakland Heights King and Queen at the party, then on Saturday February 14th we will be having a special valentine Supper at 5:30 pm for the residents. Next week is our monthly Waffle Supper on Thursday February 19th at 5; 30 pm and then on Saturday 21st at 2:30 pm the Rusty Buckets will be here to entertain. We also have a special birthday coming up next week Wilma Neitzke will be celebrating her 102nd Birthday on February 20th.

Church Service for Sunday February 15th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Eilm Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Monday February 16th at 2:30 pm is communion with First Lutheran and on Wednesday February 18th at 2:30 pm is an Ash Wednesday serve given by Pastor Hoden.

Well it seems as if February blow in on a cold and snow note. This week we will be getting ready for the Valentines party coming up next week, residents and staff will get to vote on a Valentine King and Queen. Next week we will be having on Thursday February 12th at 2:30 pm Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica then the valentine Party will be on Friday February 13th at 2:30 pm and on Saturday the 14th Valentine’s Day residents will be having a special evening Supper at 5:30 pm. We have two residents celebrating a birthday, Jeanette Johnson on February 3rd and Viola Enstrom on February 12th. Viola’s family will be serving Cake on the 12th at 3:00 pm in celebration of her Birthday.

Church Service for Sunday February 8th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Methodist Church with a luncheon served afterwards. There will be no Catholic Mass on the 10th as it was moved to February 3rd instead.

Next week is a new month so we start with our monthly volunteer executive meeting on Monday February 2nd at 2:30pm. We also have a resident celebrating a birthday on February 3rd Happy Birthday to Jeanette Johnson.

Church Service for Sunday February 1st at 2:30 pm will be given by the Craig – Alder Grove Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday February 4th at 1:00 pm is Communion with Pastor Hoden.
