Happenings at Oakland Heights: 40th Year Celebration

We had a wonderful turnout for the 40th year celebration; we had 153 visitors come to the open house, we had one of our first employees come Suzanne Sanderson, and many other past employees. It was very nice to have so many people come and celebrate with us. Thank you.

This week on Thursday October 9th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica at 2:30 pm. Next week is a busy week starting on Monday October 13th we will be taken a fall drive at 2:30 pm on Tuesday October 14th is the Residents Pizza Party at 11:30 am and at 2:30 pm Michelle Roscoe and her Children will be here to perform, and on Thursday October 16th at 5:30 pm is our monthly Waffle Supper. And last but not least on Saturday October 18th at 2:30 pm the Rusty Buckets will be here to sing. We also have several Resident Birthdays coming up starting with Joan Pullen on October 10th, Margaret Benne October 15th, and Marcella Hennig on October 17th.

Church Service for Sunday October 12th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Evangelical Free Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday October 14th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

This week is the start of a new month beginning with our 40th year Anniversary Open House this coming Sunday October 5th from 2 pm to 4pm. We will be offering free shuttle service from the Evangelical Free Parking lot. Come for food, entertainment, and reminiscing.

Next week on Monday October 6th at 2:30 pm is the Volunteer Executive Meeting, and then on Thursday October 9th at 2:30 Charlie Davis will be here to play his Harmonica. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Joan Pullen on October 10th.

There will be no Church Service for Sunday October 5th due to the Open House celebration.

Activities for the week of October 6th to October 11th   are as followed, , Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Game Day, Sing a Long, Bingo w/Evang. Free, Crafts, Bible Fellowship,   Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, Lawrence Welk.

We have one birthday this week on September 24th Happy Birthday to Dale Johnson, Thursday September 25th from 1:30 to 3:30 the General Store for the residents will be opened. On Monday September 29th at 2:30 pm is the monthly Resident Council Meeting. On Wednesday we start a new month, and on the weekend of October 5th is our 40 year anniversary party open house from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Church Service for Sunday September 28th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant with refreshments served afterwards. On Wednesday October 1st at 1:00 pm is Communion with Pastor Steve Hoden.

Activities for the week of Sept. 29th to October 4th   are as followed, , Reading with Marilyn, Game Day, Sing a Long, Bingo w/WOW , Crafts, Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, Lawrence Welk, Nebraska Football Game at 7:00 pm.

ng the Nebraska Football game at 7:00 pm. Next week we have a line up starting with Monday September 22nd we will be going on a shopping trip at 2:30 pm. Then on Tuesday September 23rd we will be having treats made by staff at 2:30 pm. On Thursday September 25th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm is our monthly General Store for residents to come and do some shopping. And then on Saturday September 27th is more Nebraska football, we will be showing the game in the front lobby starting at 8:00 pm. We would also like to wish a couple of Happy Birthdays to Lorna Olson on September 19th and Dale Johnson on September 24th.

Church Service for Sunday September 21st at 2:30 pm will be given by the St. John’s Lutheran Church with refreshments served afterwards. On Tuesday September 23rd at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of Sept. 22nd to Sept.27th are as followed, , Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Bingo w/Methodist, Show and Share, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, Lawrence Welk, Nebraska Football Game at 7:00 pm.

                  I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend and just a reminder for this week on Wednesday September 3rd is Sandy Frances 30 year Anniversary Party at 2:30 pm it will be celebrated in the Assisted Living Dining room. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Dorothy Brader who celebrates a birthday on September 3rd. Then on Saturday September 6th Nebraska takes on McNeese State at 11:00 am.

Next week we have a big weekend for the residents on Sunday September 7th it’s our annual Grandparents Potluck at 12:00 noon, family members are invited to come up for the potluck, you will need to bring a dish for the potluck . On Monday September 8th at 2:30 pm is our monthly Volunteer Ex. Meeting. On Tuesday September 9th we will be going to Golden Oaks for their Potluck dinner at 11:15 am. Wednesday September 10th at 2:30 pm is Cindy Dillender’s 5 Year Anniversary party. Thursday September 11th at 2:30 pm Charlie Davis will be here to play his Harmonica.

There will be no Church Service for Sunday September 7th.   On Tuesday September 9th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.

Activities for the week of Sept. 8th to Sept 13th , are as follows, Reading with Marilyn, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo w/Evan Free, Bible Fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

This week there is one change to the calendar of events on Thursday August 28th we will be having the general store from 1:30 to 3:30 for the resident to come and do some shopping. On Saturday August 30th is the first Nebraska game at 2:30 pm we will be showing it in the front Lobby for residents to watch. We also start a new month next week starting on Monday September 1stwhich is also Labor Day, on Wednesday September 3rd is Sandy Frances 30 year Anniversary Party at 2:30 pm it will be celebrated in the Assisted Living Dinning room. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Dorothy Brader who celebrates a birthday on September 3rd. Then on Saturday September 6th Nebraska takes on McNeese State at 11:00 am.

We would like to thank Bev Peterson for bring up and displaying her mother’s Hats, the residents really enjoyed it. We have several birthdays coming up next week, Happy Birthday to Jackie Caldwell on August 24th, Teresa Bowman on August 26th and Anita Beckner on August 29th. This week we have Waffle supper on Thursday August 21st at 5:30 pm. Next week on Monday August 25th is the monthly Resident council meeting at 2:30 pm and on Thursday August 28th we will be having Bomb pops on the patio at 2:30 pm. , and on Saturday August 30th is the first Nebraska football game of the season at 2:30 pm we will be showing it for the residents to watch.

Church Service for Sunday August 24th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Craig-Alder Grove Church with refreshments served afterwards. Tuesday August 26th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass given by Father Paul.
