Helen J. Nelson, 100 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Oakland Heights Nursing Home.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

It was a nice party for Wilma Neitzke that was held last Friday for her 103rd Birthday. Next week on Monday February 29th at 2:30 is the monthly Resident council meeting and we also start the month of March; it will be a busy month as March holds two holidays St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.

Church Service for Sunday February 28th at 2:30 pm will be given by the First Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday March 2nd is communion with Pastor Hoden at 1:00 pm.

Activities for the week of February 29th to March 5th are as follows, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Trivia Day, Bingo the w/WOW, reading group, Bible Fellowship, crafts, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Volunteers signing in last week were; Judy Nelson, Betty Hanna, Dani Moseman, Mary Donovan, Anne Anderson, Di Ruwe, Bonnie Fleischman, Pat Anderson, and Sly Rouse.

There are a couple of events coming up this week; on Thursday February 11th Charlie Davis will be here to play the Harmonica at 2:30pm. On Friday February 12th we will be having a special Valentine Dinner at noon for the residents. Then on Monday February 15th is our Valentine Party at 2:30pm we will be crowning the King and Queen. Then on Thursday February 18th is the monthly Waffle Supper starting at 5:30pm. On Saturday February 20th at 2:30 pm the Rusty Buckets will be here to perform. We have a special Birthday coming up on February 20th, Happy Birthday to Wilma Neitzke she will be turning 103.

Church Service for Sunday February 14th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Craig/Alder Grove Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday February 10th is the Ash Wednesday Church Service at 2:30 pm given by Pastor Hoden.

Activities for the week of February 15th to February 20th are as follows, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Game Day, Sing a Long, Reading Group, Bingo the w/Salem, Bible Fellowship, Game Day, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk.

Virginia Mae Simpson, 85, of Tekamah NE


Virginia Mae Simpson, 85 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska.
The Funeral Service is Sat., Feb. 13th at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later time.

Just a reminder this Thursday January 21st is our monthly waffle supper at 5:30 pm. Next week on Monday January 25th at 2:30 pm is the Resident Council meeting then on Tuesday January 26th is national Chocolate cake day and we will be serving different varieties of Chocolate cake to the residents at 2:30 pm. On the Thursday January 28th is the General Store for the residents from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. And on Friday January 29th we will be celebrating Helen Jeans Nelson’s 100th Birthday serving cake and coffee at 3:00 pm. We have a couple other residents celebrating birthdays next week Delores Carlson on January 27th, Lillian Muller on the 28th.

Church Service for Sunday January 24th at 2:30 pm will be given by the Salem Covenant Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Tuesday January 26th at 9:30 am is Catholic Mass with Father Paul.

Activities for the week of January 25th to January 30th are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing A Long, Coffee and Conversation, Bingo w/Staff, Reading Group, Bible fellowship, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Walk.

Dorothy Larson Celebrates 104th Birthday at Oakland Heights

It was a nice Birthday party last week for Dorothy Larson our oldest resident at the nursing home she turned 104. Next week on Tuesday January 19th we will try and go to Golden Oaks for their potluck dinner at noon, weather permitting. On Thursday January 21st is the monthly Waffle Supper at 5:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday January 17th at 2:30 pm will be given by the St. John Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Monday January 18th is communion by the Frist United Lutheran church.

Activities for the week of January 18th   to January 22nd   are as followed, Reading with Marilyn, Manicures, Sing a Long, Game Day, Bingo the w/Salem, Reading group, Bible Fellowship, Word Games, Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning video, and Lawrence Walk

We are going to end the year with a New Year’s Eve Party for the residents on Thursday December 31st at 2:30 pm. Next week we will be into the first week of New Year, and on Monday January 4th will be the monthly Volunteer Executive Meeting at 2:30pm. On Tuesday January 5th we will be having a Hot Cocoa party with entertainment by the Michelle Roscoe family at 2:30pm. We have a couple of birthdays coming up Curly Nelson celebrates his birthday on January 1st and Dorothy Larson will be celebrating her 104th birthday on January 6th Happy Birthday to both.

Church Service for Sunday January 3rd at 2:30 pm will be given by the Elim Lutheran Church with a luncheon served afterwards. On Wednesday January 6th will be communion given by Pastor Hoden at 1:00 pm.
