“This was the kind of game that we needed. It was a very physical game for four quarters,” stated Oakland-Craig Head Football Coach Joe Anderson.
It was a nail biter, but Oakland-Craig pulled out a victory against previously undefeated Crofton.
“We made a lot of mistakes in the red zone that we have to get fixed. We were inside the 10 three times and came away with zero points. Those things will really come back to bite you if you don’t get them fixed,” Anderson said. “I was proud of the way our guys stuck together and played really unselfish the 2nd half. Their offense is unconventional, and can be tough to stop. We were a lot more disciplined the 2nd half and were able to shut them out.”
The Knights struggled, but stuck together to bring home a victory.
“Offensively we moved the ball really well all night. We have developed a lot of different weapons out there, so it will be tough for defense to key on any one guy,” stated Anderson. “This week will be another challenge. Ponca is 0-4 but have lost to four teams that have all been rated, and 3 of those games were very tight into the 4th quarter.”
It is homecoming this Friday night. Cheer on the Knights to a victory over Ponca.

“I thought Wisner came out and played with a lot more fire than we did. They did a good job of attacking us. We did not play with the aggressive style that we had played with lately,” said Head Coach Joe Anderson. “This week will give us a chance to fix some of those things. However, our defense did come up with some big plays before half that really opened up the game.”
Nick Arlt led the offense again with six touchdowns, five were rushing and one was the result of an interception.
Leading the way defensively with eight tackles each were Tommy Nelson, Cody Mace, Michael Fischer, Bryce Uhing, Ted Maline, Mitch Smith, Justin Smith, Joel Johnson and Conner Thiele.
O-C now enters the state play off rounds, beginning with Fillmore Central Friday night at 6:00 in Oakland.

Oakland-Craig pummeled Stanton last Friday night, beating them soundly by a score of 44-14.
“Our execution early in both halves really was the difference in the game. We were able to jump to a big lead early in the first half, however penalties in the 2nd quarter really took away our momentum,” said Head Coach Joe Anderson. “We challenged the kids to come out with that same energy the 2nd half, and they answered that with two quick TD’s to put the game away.”
Oakland-Craig is celebrating Homecoming this week, but due to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge canceling the rest of their football season, reportedly due to injuries, the King and Queen of Homecoming were crowned at a volleyball game earlier this week, which has never happened in the history of football here.
“This bye week will allow us some time to heal some bumps and bruises, and will also allow us to get back and work on some fundamentals and clean up some of our mistakes,” stated Anderson.
