Lorna Webster, 84, of Lyons NE


LORNA WEBSTER, 84 years, of Lyons, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska from heart failure.

Lorna Helen Suhr was born to Rudolph and Adeline Suhr on August 22, 1930 on a farm northwest of Pender, Nebraska.

Lorna graduated from Pender High School. She married Raymond Lewis Webster on May 29, 1948. They lived east of Lyons until 1952, when they moved east of Lyons, where she resided until she became ill in November 2014.

Lorna’s passion was her children and grandchildren. She loved crocheting, quilting, and all forms of needlework. She spent hours crocheting dolls, hand quilting, and embroidering various treats for her children and grandchildren. Lorna taught, by example, the meaning of love and patience to all of her family.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond.

Survivors include two sisters-in-laws, Tootie Webster, of Lyons, Eleanor Webster, of Pender; four children: two sons, Lyle Webster, of Lyons, Lynn (Holly) Webster, of Salt Lake City, UT; two daughters, Wanda (Ron) Brovont, of Lyons, Sonja (David) Errick of Salt Lake City; 4 grandchildren, Kim (Dale) Beckstrom, Tim (Cristina) Brovont, Becky (fiancé Fred), Matt; 3 great grandchildren, Kalter & Raymond Beckstrom, Wesley Brovont and another little Brovont on the way.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 31, 2015, 9:30 am, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.

VISITATION: Friday, 6-8 pm with family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Services in Lyons. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to service.

BURIAL: Blair Cemetery, Blair, Nebraska

Dennis C. Carlson, 76, of Fremont NE Formerly of Craig NE


DENNIS C. CARLSON was born December 23, 1938 to Clair and Gayle (Garner) Carlson in Craig, Nebraska.  He passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Arbor Manor in Fremont at the age of 76.

Dennis graduated from Craig High School in 1956 and in 1958, he joined the United States Air Force.  Shortly after his discharge, he married Pauline Vanderpool on October 20, 1964, in Sunnymead, California. To this union were born two children, Debbie and Darren.

Dennis was a long a long time employee of Holmquist Grain & Lumber.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Villwok; brothers, Rodney and Terry Carlson.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline of Fremont, NE; children, Debbie (Andrew) Winslow of Omaha, NE, Darren Carlson of Pinellas Park, FL; 2 grandsons, Darren Samuel Carlson and Jude Garreth Jay Winslow; brother, Jim Carlson of Fremont, sisters-in-law, Judy Carlson of Andover, KS, Donna Carlson of Miniature, NE; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Russell R. Puffer, 78, of Herman NE


RUSSELL R. PUFFER was born July 17, 1936, in Tekamah, Nebraska to Linton and Blanche (Peck) Puffer. He passed away Friday, January 9, 2015, at the age of 78 at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, Nebraska, while surrounded by family and friends.

Russell spent his childhood growing up on the farm in the Tekamah area. He attended school in Tekamah. After finishing school, he worked for area farmers in Tekamah.

In May 1967, Russell married Wanda Anderson. They moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska, where Russell worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. In 1977, they moved back to Craig, Nebraska, and made their home. To this union three children were born; Kent, Amy and Wesley. While residing in Craig, Russell worked for the City of Craig for many years.

September 9, 2000, Russell and Phyllis were united in marriage. They spent their retirement years together in Herman, Nebraska.

Russell enjoyed collecting hats and license plates, having both of them hung in the garage, where he spent a lot of time. Russell took great pride in the appearance of the Craig Cemetery. He always enjoyed being there, and researching each gravestone. Russell and Phyllis gathered all of the information to make a new cemetery directory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linton and Ruth Puffer, Marion and Phyllis Puffer.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Herman; children, Kent (Brooke) Puffer of Overton, NE, Amy (Jarvis) Guill, of Oakland, NE, Wes Puffer, of Cheyenne, WY; adopted daughter, Dori Lee, of Omaha; sister, Rosemand (Jim) Sell, of Mondamin, IA; stepdaughters, Kim (Fred) Wesley, of Blair, NE, Tanis (Scott) Tucker, of Springfield, MO, Mary (Harry) Beatty, of Holley, FL; four grandchildren, Connor and Corbin Guill, Haylee Puffer, Dawsen Puffer; step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; a host of friends.
