Margaret Conklin, 74, of Tekamah NE


Margaret Lillian Conklin, age 74, passed away November 14, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah following a brief illness.

Margaret was born July 11, 1941 to William and Tillie (Abendroth) Moseman. She was raised on a small farm in Rosalie Nebraska. She graduated from Rosalie High School in 1959.

On May 6, 1960 she was united in marriage to Frank Conklin Jr in Tekamah. They made their home in Tekamah where they raised 3 children: Anna, Robert, and Tania. Throughout her life she worked many different jobs that included driving a school bus for Tekamah-Herman schools for many years. She had a huge love for animals. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and many other crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, and daughter Anna.

Survivors include her son, Robert Conklin of Omaha NE; daughter, Tania (Richard) Ullarich; granddaughters Jasmine and Courtney Ullarich all of Norfolk NE; son-in-law, Roger Muhs of Craig, NE; step daughter, Debra Mitchell of Georgia and her children.

Dianne Burt, 66, of Oakland NE


Dianne “Beulah” Burt was born January 14, 1949, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Raymond and Bernice (Nelson) Ahl . She passed away Friday, November 13, 2015, at her home in Oakland, at the age of 66 years.

Dianne graduated from Craig High School, Craig, Nebraska, in 1967.

On August 20, 1977, Dianne and Earl Burt were married at Tekamah, Nebraska. They made their home in Oakland.

Dianne was employed as a waitress for many years at the Corner Café in Oakland, where she receivedthe name “Beulah” as many of you know. After the Corner Cafe closed, she helped out at B & B’s and Quenchers. She also spent a few years working at Nifty Thrifty in Oakland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; two brothers, Steve and Wayne Ahl; sister, Nancy Ahl.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Jernigan of Fremont, NE; stepdaughters, Nicki Burt and Wendi Burt; stepson, Shane Burt; brother, William Ahl of Fremont; stepfather, Loren Hood of Tekamah, NE; stepsister, Lornella Cooper of Texas; sister-in-law, Sally Ahl of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren: Kelsey, Trent and Serenity Jernigan; one great grandchild, Zayble; many nieces and nephews.

Ruby Louise Uman, 87, of Oakland NE


Ruby Louise Uman, age 87 years, of Oakland, Nebraska passed away November 7, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa after suffering a massive stroke.

Ruby was born December 1, 1927 in Decatur, Nebraska to William and Gertie (Phipps) Richards, the oldest of five children. She attended grade school at Elm Creek Country School near Decatur, and graduated from Craig High School in 1945.

After graduation, she did secretarial work in Oakland and West Point, Nebraska. She married Milton Uman on April 22, 1951. They lived on a farm northwest of Oakland, where she was a farm wife and raised their two sons Wayne and Lonnie. Ruby lived on the same farm place for 62 years, including four years after Milton passed away. In April 2015 she moved to Oakland Heights Assisted Living in Oakland, and in September to Oakland Heights Nursing Home for the six weeks up to her death.

Ruby was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, a worker on many Burt County election boards, a volunteer at Oakland Heights, and a past member of Morningside Circle.

Ruby enjoyed taking bus trips with her husband, especially to Branson. She put together many jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed word find puzzles. Ruby had a very large cardinal ornament collection, and enjoyed her flowers very much. She was also ready to play a game of cards whenever family and friends would be around.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; brother, Gerald; sister, Loretta.

She is survived by her two sons, Wayne and Lonnie of Oakland; brother, Roland (Mary Ann) Richards of Oakland; sister, Phyllis Kauffman of Calhan, CO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ruby was a sweet and caring lady who will be missed, but never forgotten.

Terry Clifford Anderson, 69, of Oakland NE


TERRY CLIFFORD ANDERSON was born to Clifford and Verna (Mason) Anderson March 19, 1946 in Oakland, Nebraska. He passed away November 1, 2015 at his home with his family.

On December 24, 1977, he was married to Susan L Krell in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to the family farm east of Oakland in 1980. Terry enjoyed his time outdoors on the farm with his family and pets. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, cutting firewood, and playing guitar. He especially enjoyed hobbies with his son, like camping, racing R/C cars, and many other outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Verna Anderson, and baby sister Sharon Jean.

Survivors include his wife, Susie; his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Jessica of Vinton, IA; his sister, Carole Jean Daasch of Omaha, NE; niece, Kristen Scott (Peter); nephew, Ivan Kent Steinke; uncle, Roy Anderson of Blair, NE; cousins, and many special friends.

Norman Emory Wickstrom, 76, of Oakland NE


Norman Emory Wickstrom was born to Norman and Dorothy (Miller) Wickstrom on October 6, 1939 in Oakland, Nebraska.  He passed away on Saturday, October 31st 2015 at his home in Oakland.

Emory grew up on a farm outside of Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School in 1957.  On January 22nd, 1960, he was married to VerLee Greenfield in Elk Point, South Dakota.  They lived in Oakland, where they raised their four children.

Emory was employed in West Point, Nebraska at Nielson Oil and Propane, at the Farmer’s Coop in Oakland, and by other area businesses.  He enjoyed ham radio, shooting, and motorcycling.

Emory was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Prudence (Myron) Nissen, and his beloved wife.

He is survived by his son, Nick (Suzie) Wickstrom, of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter, Linda (Joel) Williamsen, of Huntsville, AL; son, Tom (Michelle) Wickstrom, of Omaha, NE; son, Darin Wickstrom, of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

MEMORIAL GATHERING: Thursday, November 5, 2015, 1-3 pm with family receiving friends and a Prayer Services at 3 pm, all at Pelan Funeral Services Oakland.
