Harvey H. Relitz, 85, of Emerson NE


Harvey H. Relitz 85, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, September 09, 2014 at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangement are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE.

Harvey was born April 30, 1929, to Ferdinand and Alvena (Stolze) Relitz in rural Emerson, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Harvey attended and graduated from Emerson High School in 1946. Harvey served in the Korean War from January 1951 to October 1952. On May 24, 1953 Harvey married Irma Punke. To this union two children were born. After returning home from the service, he farmed in the Emerson area until 1989. Harvey then worked as the rural mail carrier in Emerson from 1989 until his retirement in 1997.

Harvey was a member of the American Legion for 59 years and the Commander of the Emerson Post for 30 years and a member of the VFW. Harvey enjoyed playing cards, fixing tractors watching Nebraska Football and taking his grandchildren to tractor pulls. Most of all, Harvey loved his family and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Irma; son, Craig (Deb) Relitz of Emerson, NE; daughter, Cynthia (Randal) Bargholz of Wayne, NE; sisters, Mardell Bonderson of Sioux City, IA and Wanda Jensen of Lyons, NE; brothers, Wesley Relitz of AZ and Robert (Carol) Relitz of MD; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers-in-law, Larry Jensen and Richard Bonderson.

Dale T. Mayberry, 86 of Emerson, NE


Dale T. Mayberry, 86, of Emerson, NE passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 in an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola is officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. The family will be present between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. The burial will be at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Emerson, NE.

Dale was born June 26, 1927 to William and Alice (Hulsebusch) Mayberry in Pender, NE. He attended country school in Thurston, NE and attended Thurston High School until freshmen year when his parents moved to Pender, NE. He completed high school in Pender and graduated in 1945. After graduation, Dale was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in France, Germany, and Austria. After his discharge, he worked for Pender Automatic and officiated football and baseball games. On June 1, 1948, he married Ardyce Frese at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. The couple began farming. In 1967 the family moved to Emerson where Dale farmed and worked for Emerson and Wakefield fertilizer plants.

Dale was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, served on numerous committees and was a member of the Pender VFW. He was an avid Cornhusker fan. Dale enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards. Dale is survived by his wife; Ardyce Mayberry of Emerson, NE, daughter; Deb Wriedt of Jefferson City, MO, six grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, brother; Warren (Mildred) Mayberry of Pender, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, and son; Randy Mayberry.

 

 

 

Lyle Charles Abendroth, 84 of Bancroft


Lyle Charles Abendroth, 84, of Bancroft, Nebraska died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Legacy Gardens Living Center in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Lyle will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Phillip Hale will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, with the family present from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft is in charge of the arrangements.

Lyle was born on November 23, 1929 in Bancroft, NE, the son of Martin and Emma (Tessmer) Abendroth. He graduated from Bancroft High School in 1947 and continued to farm with his father in Bancroft. After being drafted into the United States Marine Corps, he served as a Sgt. At camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA from 1951 until 1953. After returning home he continued to farm. On September 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlene Fendrick in Thurston, NE. Lyle farmed and raised hogs until his retirement in 1996.

Lyle was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, where he also served as an elder and participated in the church choir. His cherished hobbies included playing the accordion, fishing, gardening, raising German Shepherds, attending auctions and passing his wisdom to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene of Bancroft, NE, children David Abendroth of Bancroft, NE, Dan (Marcia) Abendroth of Omaha, NE, Renee (Brian) Weborg of Pender, NE, Amy (Ron) Kellogg of Utica, NE and Sandy (Craig) Sisson of Omaha, NE; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and family friends Heath (Teri) Cornett and family of Blair, NE.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Emma and a brother Lawrence Abendroth.
