I am sitting at my office, wondering if the government is going to shut down in the next 10 hours.

I am not an expert on how a government works and what the effect of it shutting down will have, but I do know this is not good.

I am very disappointed in our elected leaders. I am to the point that whomever I voted for will not get my vote again. I am so ashamed of all of them. They seem to be willing to sacrifice people, this country, because they have an agenda.

October 17 is also a critical day. If things don’t change, we won’t be able to borrow money after that day.

I don’t believe anyone in the congress, senate, or the president, should receive a paycheck since they are going to be hurting others. They don’t deserve to be paid for doing a lousy job.

I hope the next president can fix this mess. I hope we also have many new congressmen and senators next election.

I had the flu, combination cold, last week. I couldn’t sleep at night and was tired all day.

What a miserable week. Now I am fighting allergies. That is normal for me though. I don’t like having a cold.

I didn’t lose my appetite though. I ate soup and drank lots of water and juice. I ate plenty of fruit too.

I am just glad that is over. I hear there is a lot going around. Please be cautious, wash you hands often and get the flu shot!

There is a nice place in Oakland that I have enjoyed many times over the years. It is the Troll Stroll on the east end of town.

When my kids and my sister, Angie’s kids were little, we use to take them through it quite often.

Lawrence Faudel was quite a gifted artist. He painted many of the trolls over the years. Unfortunately, there are always those who have to do harm to something beautiful. The park was vandalized many times over the years, causing damage to the trolls.

Things are improving now, thanks to the city of Oakland employees and past Oakland seniors who would do community service one day towards the end of the school year all over Oakland and Craig, including the Troll Stroll. Many dead trees were cut down and taken out of the park. New bridges have been replaced old ones. Other new items have been placed in the park too.

My husband proposed to me on one of the bridges nearly 18 years ago. It has since been replaced, but is in the same location.

It is a nice place to walk through and visit. It is very beautiful!

Thought for the Day: Fall is here. Let’s enjoy the changing colors of the season!

Have a great week, until we meet again!
