Tornado Warning for Washington County


The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a

Tornado Warning for… southeastern Washington County in east central Nebraska…

until 815 PM CDT

at 750 PM CDT…a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Kennard…or 14 miles northwest of Omaha…moving northeast at 15 mph. Hazard…tornado and half dollar size hail. Source…radar indicated rotation. Impact…flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs…windows…and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near… Kennard around 800 PM CDT. Blair and Fort Calhoun around 815 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Washington. This includes the following highways… Highway 30 in Nebraska between mile markers 441 and 447. Highway 75 in Nebraska between mile markers 105 and 114. Precautionary/preparedness actions… Take cover now! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors…in a Mobile home…or in a vehicle…move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
