Phillip Wayne Hennig, 59, of Tekamah NE

Phillip Wayne Hennig was born to Erwin and Velma (Tippery) Hennig on December 18, 1956, in Oakland, Nebraska. He passed away October 17, 2016 near his family home, at the age of 59 years.

He graduated from Tekamah-Herman High School in 1975. After graduating high school he joined his dad in the family farming operation. This became a lifelong career and passion. In 1978, Phil married the love of his life, Sandra Lynne Gammel. To this marriage they were blessed with three daughters and one son.

Phil was a 4-H leader, superintendent and parent for over 35 years. After being involved with 4-H as a young man, he wanted to pass those traditions on to his children. He was baptized into and a lifelong member of the Riverside Baptist Church in rural Tekamah. He has helped serve multiple roles, the most important to him, serving as the church Treasurer.

He was always supportive and involved with all of his children’s activities. He spent countless hours cheering in the bleachers, prepping animals for the show ring, waiting for all of his girls to get ready and driving Thomas across the country for his shooting sports.

He was a patient, kind-hearted family man who had a passion for International tractors, Harley motorcycles and deer hunting. He was hard working, able to fix just about anything, and a dedicated farmer who was passing on his legacy to the next generation.

He was preceded in death by his sister Janis (Hennig) Felker.
