Edgar Allison Sears, Jr. was born November 17, 1936 to Edgar Allison and Anne Marie (Gatewood) Sears in Tekamah, Nebraska. He passed away on the morning of November 30, 2016, at his home in Decatur, Nebraska, at the age of 80.
Edgar was the second of four children; he was raised in Decatur. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1954 with academic honors. He was a three sport letterman in football, basketball and baseball. He enlisted in the US Army in 1954 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Although he saw no combat, he was a Korean War veteran. Upon completion of his service, he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and played varsity baseball for two years. He moved to Southern California and worked with his Uncle, Harold “Doc” Sears, and met Marie Mousel from Juniata, Nebraska and they were married on January 21, 1961. He lived and worked in Southern California, in the rubber business, until 1985. He then became a cross country truck driver until he retired in the year 2000.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ann Sears 1950, John Sears 1944-2013, Rita Mockus 1934-2015.
He is survived by his sister, Jane McDonald; his four children, Anthony Allison Sears, Fr. Michael James Sears, Monica Elizabeth Weber, John Lincoln Sears; four grandchildren, Rachael Sears, Claire Sears, Christian Weber, Grant Weber.
