James “Jim” Frahm, 83, of Oakland NE

James “Jim” Frances Frahm was born December 10, 1933 to Hugo and Mary (Strehle) Frahm in West Point, Nebraska. He passed away April 26, 2017 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years.

He attended school in West Point and Lyons; he graduated from Lyons High School in 1950. On April 1, 1956, Jim married Norma VonEssen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hooper. After their marriage, they lived on Norma’s family farm outside Uehling until 1961, when they moved to Oakland.

In early 1961, Jim and Skinny Larson started Frahm/Larson Transfer; they transported livestock together through most of the 60s. In the late 60s, Jim went on his own and started Oakland Livestock Express, and then in 1971, Jim & Norma purchased a farm and moved to rural Oakland. Jim served as Mayor of Oakland from 1968-1971. After a move to Denver, CO in the early 80s, Jim drove a truck for Northwest Transport and got his pilot’s license in 1982. He enjoyed flying, but the small planes were not fun for Norma. In the late 80s he switched to golf course maintenance, which was a good fit for him, since he enjoyed golfing. He and Norma traveled to different states over the next few years as he worked at Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Boulders Golf Club, Cherry Hills Country Club and Spokane Country Club. In 1999 they settled in Bella Vista, Arkansas where they lived until 2006, when they moved to Lincoln. After Norma’s death in 2012, Jim returned to Oakland, where he lived until 2016, when he was diagnosed with Dementia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma; brother, Charles Frahm.

He is survived by his son, Jeff (Sandy) Frahm of Oakland; daughters, Teresa (Paul) DesLaurier of Camarillo, CA, Michelle (Kyle) Bellamy of Lincoln; sister, Rosemary Kai of Oakland; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Tim) Addante, Kirk Frahm, Cally (John) Tejkl, Andrew DesLaurier, Erin (Sean) Regan, Kameron Heyen, Makenzy Bellamy, Kyson Bellamy; four great grandchildren.
