Dangerously Cold Wind Chills Expected This Weekend…

.An extended period of cold temperatures are expected to settle over the area this weekend. Wind chill values range from 20 to 30 below zero tonight, then again Saturday night, and eventually reach 30 to 40 below zero Sunday night into Monday morning.

* WHAT…Wind chills 15 below zero to 25 below zero tonight and Saturday night. Dangerously cold wind chills 30 to 40 below Sunday night.

* WHERE…Portions of east central and northeast Nebraska and west central Iowa.

* WHEN…For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 2 AM to noon CST Saturday. For the Wind Chill Watch, from late Saturday night through Monday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

A Wind Chill Watch means there is the potential for a combination of very cold air and the wind to create dangerously low wind chill values. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation.
