Barbara Ann Higgins, 76, of Tekamah NE

Barbara Ann Higgins was born to John “Jack” and Georgia (Shoemaker) Hill August 23, 1941 in Oakland, Nebraska. She passed away December 28, 2017 at Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years.

Barbara attended Oakland Public School through 7th grade. Her family then moved to Fremont, Nebraska, where Barbara graduated from Fremont High in 1959. She attended her freshman year at Peru State College, where Tom Higgins of Valley, Nebraska proposed to her. They were married at St. Patrick’s church in Fremont on July 30,1960. To this union were born three children: Lori, Jodi and Sean.

Barbara was an accomplished musician who played the clarinet, piano, organ and
accordion. She loved to paint and draw. Most of her artwork adorns the walls of her
family.

Barbara was best known for her work as the manager of Lundstroms Furniture in Spirit
Lake, Iowa, where their family resided most of their adult lives. Tom was a school teacher at the Spirit Lake High School.

Barbara loved her family and friends. Because of her loving caring nature there will be
a special place for her in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Clarice G. Barnes.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tom; children, Lori (Jim) Thibeault of Norwich, CT, Jodi (Nick) Pinyo of Camarillo, CA, Sean (Sarah Winge) Higgins of Brainerd, MN; six grandchildren, Kiley Worley of Decatur, NE, Megan Johnson of Blair, NE, Colby Rohde of Scottsdale, AZ, Kristin Pinyo of Camarillo, Jordan and Brooke Higgins of Brainard, Sarah, Noelle and Arthur Thibeault of Norwich; seven great grandchildren, Keegan, Reece, Blayne and Laynie Worley of Decatur, Kender, Maichen and Imani Johnson of Blair; sisters-in-law, Margaret Roddy, Shirley Higgins, Carol Higgins; brother-in-law, Robert Driml; nieces and nephews.

VISITATION

 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church3480 W HWY 32
Tekamah, NE 68061

Family will receive friends 3-5 pm. Vigil Service will begin at 5 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service at the church.
