Ardell H. Mueller, 92, of Pender, Nebraska died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Ardell will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE is in charge of services.

Ardell was born February 19, 1922 in Emerson, NE to Henry and Rosa (Schutte) Mueller. Ardell was baptized October 14, 1922 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pender, and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. Mark’s Lultheran Church in Pender. He attended Emerson High School. Ardell married Irene Hix on December 23, 1950 in Columbus, NE. Ardell served his country as a Private First Class in automatic weapons in World War II and was specially trained for construction and equipment mechanics. Ardell was stationed on the island of Okinawa. He earned the Victory Medal, Theater Ribbon and the Army Occupational Medal. He was a member of the Mule Pack where he helped to prepare for the invasion of Japan. On October 17, 1946 he was honorably discharged. Ardell served as a member of the American Legion Post in Pender, then transferred to Thurston American Legion #372. He served the Legion on various committees for over 60 years.

Ardell was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was also a chairman on the Brotherhood Farm Project, and a member of the ASCS Thurston County Board. In his free time, Ardell loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Ardell is survived by his wife, Irene of Pender, NE; sons, Randy (Darlene) Mueller of Omaha, NE, Jim (Glenda) Mueller of Thurston, NE; sisters, Marilyn Hansen of Wakefield, NE, Mylet (Ted) Habrock of Emerson, NE; grandchildren, Stacey Mueller of Omaha, NE, Joel (Megan) Mueller of Omaha, NE, Leslie Mueller of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Kayden, and Jace, and many nieces and nephews.

Ardell is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Robert Mueller; brother, Harlan (Vera) Mueller; and brother-in-law, Bill Hansen.

Christopher David Breen, age 39, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014.

Born July 15th, 1975 in Kansas City, Kansas, Chris was raised in Liberty, Missouri and relocated to Omaha, Nebraska where he married Sarah Breen on November 15th, 2014.

Surviving family includes his wife, Sarah Breen, and children: Cheyenne Worthy, Brock Worthy, Makayla Breen, Brooke Elton, Victoria Breen, and John Spottswood. Other surviving family includes three brothers Aaron Voth and wife Michelle, Andrew Voth and wife Janel and children, Benjamin Voth and wife Nicki and children, and stepsister Christina Smith and family. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Breen) Smith.

Chris loved the Lord and his family and he loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved fishing, hunting, boating, and working with horses. He was a certified EMT and found great joy in helping others. Memorial services are being held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 19th, at Harvey Oaks Baptist Church, 14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue, Omaha, Nebraska. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church.

Roger was born April 3, 1939 to Don and Iva Mae (Huffman) Ross in Homer, NE. He graduated from Dakota City High school in 1957. Roger married Faye Christiansen on May 23, 1959 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE. To this union, the couple had three children.

Roger was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine and a Mason in the Omadi Lodge #5 in South Sioux City, NE, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and being outside gardening, fishing and camping. Roger loved spending time with his family and riding his scooter.

Roger is survived by his wife, Faye; sons, Roger Scott Ross of Pender, NE, Colin Ross of South Sioux City, NE; daughter, Shawn (Alan) Doht of Pender, NE, sister, Charlotte Doenhoefer of Dakota City, NE; sister-in-laws, Faye Christiansen of Pender, NE, Elaine Christiansen of Pender, NE, Jill Christiansen of Pender, NE, Sharon Buchholz of Pender, NE; brother-in-laws, Joel Christiansen of Lincoln, NE, Myron “Butch” Christiansen of Columbus, NE, Mert (Debbie) Christiansen of Pender, NE, many nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Alex Doht of Omaha, NE, and Eric Doht of Wisner, NE.

Bernard “Ben” Hagedorn, 82, of West Point NE


Bernard “Ben” Hagedorn, age 82, of West Point, Nebraska passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the West Point Living Center in West Point.  Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Charles with Fr. Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant.  Burial with military honors at St. Anthony Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home and continuing at 5 p.m. at St Anthony’s.  Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church.  Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Cemetery Fund.    Stokely Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Bernard William Hagedorn was born January 18, 1932, in West Point to Anton and Mary (Batenhorst) Hagedorn.  He grew up in the St. Charles area, attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and graduated from Guardian Angels in 1950. Bernard served in the U.S. Army from January 1953 until November 1954 and was stationed in Korea.  On November 16, 1957, Bernard married Roberta Diekemper at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point.  Ben worked at the alfalfa mill for several years and then in 1994, he retired from NE Farmers Coop after 30 years of service.  He and Roberta moved to West Point in 1994 and in 2013 Ben moved to West Point Living Center.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s parish and Holy Name Society, V.F.W. and the West Point Sportsman Club.  He enjoyed work and family.
Survivors include wife Roberta; children Doris (Ron) Guenther of Bancroft, Alice (James) Heimann of West Point, Patty (Dennis) Wright, Sr. of Kearney, Connie (Mike) Eilerts of West Point, Glenn of West Point, Tom (Nikki) of West Point, and Tim (Jessica) of West Point; brother Leonard (Geraldine) of West Point; sister Agnes (Jerome) Throener of Omaha; sister-in-law Elizabeth Hagedorn of West Point; 22 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and in-laws.  
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond.
