Henry Phillip (Phil) Eriksen, 85, of Omaha NE Formerly of Tekamah and Craig NE


Henry Phillip (Phil) Eriksen was born December 30, 1929 to Henry and Violet (McPherson) Eriksen at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.  He passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a brief illness.

Phil was raised on a farm southwest of Craig, Nebraska and attended Craig Public schools graduating from high school in 1948. After graduation he farmed and was a part time trucker until enlisting in the Army in January 1952.  He served as the records clerk for a training camp until his discharge in December 1953.

On October 1, 1950, Phil was married to Letha Hansen in Oakland, Nebraska. They lived most of their lives on a farm 2 ½ miles south of Craig until health issues forced his retirement from farming in 1995. In early 1996 they moved to Tekamah, Nebraska where Phil served as Burt County’s Veteran Service Officer from the fall of 1992 until the fall of 2012. They moved to Omaha in September 2012 where he resided until his passing.

He enjoyed boating, vacationing with family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Phil was a member of the Craig and Tekamah American Legion, the Tekamah Masonic Lodge, Omaha Scottish Rite, Tangier Shrine and the Tekamah United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Brad Herting, and granddaughter Jessica Herting.

Survivors include his wife, Letha of Omaha; two sons and daughter-in-laws: Mike and LaDonna Eriksen of Omaha, Pat and Marcia Eriksen of Sioux City, IA; daughter: Barbie Herting of Omaha; eight grandchildren: Dan Eriksen of Omaha, Amanda (Chris) McDonnell of Orland Park, IL, Bethany Eriksen of Phoenix, AZ, Leila Eriksen of Sioux City, IA, Russ (Libbi) Herting of Omaha, Brandon, Justin and Jenny Herting of Omaha; two great grandchildren: Campbell and Lila McDonnell of Orland Park, IL; sister: Marge Sommerer of rural Craig; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Phyllis Eriksen of Grand Island.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, March 30, 2015, 10:30 am, at the United Methodist Church, Tekamah, NE. WITH MILITARY HONORS by VFW Bataan Post No. 3304 and American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15 and American Legion Post No. 127.

VISITATION: Sunday, 5 – 7 pm with family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah. Visitation Monday will also be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Craig Cemetery, at a later date

MEMORIALS: To the family with memorials to be designated at a later date.

Mervonne Lubberstedt Doebke 84, of Pierce, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 14 , 2015, at the Pierce Manor in Pierce, Nebraska. A family graveside memorial service will be held on June 5, 2015 at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, Nebraska. Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements. Mervonne was born in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Erwin and Mabel (Denker) Lubberstedt. She was baptized and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield. She graduated from Wakefield high school in 1951. She married Glen Doebke and they lived in Fremont and Norfolk, Nebraska for several years.

Mervonne is survived by her brothers Wes Lubberstedt of Lexington, Nebraska, Robert (Dawn) Lubberstedt of Wakefield, Nebraska and Rodney (Bonnie) Lubberstedt of Kerrville, TX, and one sister; Cathy (Kent) Lubberstedt Bressler of Kerrville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Mable, husband Glenn and a brother Gene. The family requests that memorials be sent to Pierce Manor in Mervonne’s memory.

Linda Marie (Barner) Paul, 86, of Wakefield, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Presbyterian Church in Wakefield, with Pastor Ray McCalla officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorials are suggested to the Wakefield Presbyterian Church or the Wakefield Health Care Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Linda was born October 7, 1928 to Milferd and Sophie (Grone) Barner in Wayne, NE. Linda was baptized October 28, 1928 and confirmed March 29, 1942 into the Lutheran faith. She attended rural school districts in Dixon and Wayne counties. Linda graduated from Winside High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at Coryell Auto Company in Wayne. Linda married Robert Paul on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. She continued to work as a bookkeeper at Schroeder’s Implement in Wakefield until she began to raise a family.

Linda received membership of the Presbyterian Church in Wakefield on April 3, 1953. She served the congregation as an elder for several terms and as Clerk of Session. Throughout the years, she taught church school, sponsored youth groups, and held the office of secretary for Presbyterian Women for many years. Linda also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and Scrabble. Linda was a very faithful woman and loved spending time with her family.

Linda is survived by her husband, Robert Paul of Wakefield, NE; son, Alan Paul of Council Bluffs; daughters, Joni (Gene) Pfeifer of Overland Park, KS, Lisa Cuvelier of Omaha, NE, Shelley Welton of Papillion, NE; three sisters, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Ken and Keith Paul; and three brothers.
