Roger D. Raver, 88 years, of Craig, Nebraska, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation in Tekamah, Nebraska.

Visitation is Thursday, April 4th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland, NE.

The Funeral is Friday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Craig Ne. Military Honors will be held at the Craig Cemetery.

Burial is in the Craig Cemetery.

John Junior Dallmann, 85, of Tekamah NE


John Junior Dallmann , age 85, of Tekamah, Nebraska passed away October 31, 2017 at Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah, Nebraska.  Memorial services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017, 10:30 am, at United Methodist Church in Tekamah.  Burial with Military honors will be in the Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska.  Memorial visitation will be Sunday, 5-7 pm, at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah.  Memorials are to the family for later designation.  Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah in charge of arrangements.

John Junior Dallmann was born June 16, 1932 to John O. and Goldie (Mankhey) Dallmann in Franklin County, near Macon, Nebraska. John grew up on a farm and attended a country school. He graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, Nebraska.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in both Macon and Tekamah. He helped with several remodeling projects in the Tekamah church.

He joined the Navy June 30, 1952, during the Korean War. John served on a repair tender and he was honorably discharged June 13, 1956.

John enjoyed many kinds of work. He farmed, was a certified electrician, worked on a sugar mill and at Burt County Public Power. He owned a café and a bar. His hobbies were photography and leather craft, making billfolds and purses.

On April 3, 1969 he married Mary Miller Preston in Remsen, Iowa. They made their home in Tekamah for 48 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Frerichs and Donna Rae Greening.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Tekamah; brother, Myron of Franklin; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and friends.

Cathryn Belle (Ensminger) Hugg, 91, of Tekamah NE


Cathryn Belle (Ensminger) Huff was born May 31, 1925 in Aurora, Nebraska to Joseph and Delta (Williamson) Ensminger. She passed away August 21, 2016 at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland, Nebraska, at 91 years.

Cathy grew up on a farm near Emerson, Nebraska and graduated from Emerson High School. On June 8, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Huff. They were married for 63 years at the time of his death, making Tekamah, Nebraska their home for most of those years. Cathy was a resident of Tekamah for 59 years, until failing health caused her to move to the Oakland Heights facility.

Cathy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah. She was a long time member of the Church Circle. She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies included golf, knitting and gardening. She and Charles were avid ballroom dancers throughout their marriage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and her son, David.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Gibbs (Ron) Kommers of Oakland; son, Van (Cathi) of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Mary Christensen of Kansas City MO; sister, Beth Petersen of Moville, IA; seven grandchildren; Eric, Clay, Rodney, Darci, Danette, Sam, and Katie; nine great grand children; Rachel, Ian, Autumn, Jaysen, Ben, Vivi, Kendall, Roslyn, and Corin; a host of nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service is Thurs., Aug 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah, NE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial is in the Tekamah Cemetery at a later date.

Verna N. Weatherly, 95, of Tekamah NE


Verna N. Weatherly, age 95, of Tekamah, Nebraska passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah.  Memorial services will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah.  Burial will  be in the Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska.  Memorial visitation will be held Friday, June 17th, from 5-6:30 p.m. with family receiving friends and Eastern Star Service at 6:30 p.m. all at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah.  Memorials to the family to be designated at a later date  Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements.

Verna Nylene Weatherly was born to Chancey and Alpharetta (Irish) Underwood in Belgrade, Nebraska on February 26, 1921.
Verna grew up in the Belgrade area and graduated from Belgrade High school in 1938. On November 5, 1941, Verna married Robert “Bob” Weatherly in Belgrade. They lived most of their lives on farms around the Tekamah area and moved into Tekamah in 1975. She spent numerous hours answering phones and taking messages at Weatherly Bros Irrigation.

Verna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Tekamah, Tekamah Chapter 131 Order of the Eastern Star of Nebraska. She was a leader for various 4-H groups and a loyal supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bob and Verna loved traveling with friends and family to Texas and Las Vegas; they had numerous stories of the adventures.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Weatherly; daughter, Patricia Weatherly Nicholls; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane “Janie” (Mullins) Weatherly, grandson Michael Weatherly; sister, Aila Ahlers; brother, Claire Underwood; brothers-in-law, Walt Ahlers and Vernon Hansen.

Verna is survived by her sons, Robert K. ( Beth) Weatherly, Jr. of Fremont, NE and Jerry L. Weatherly of Bellevue, NE; three grandchildren, Mark (Amanda) Nicholls of Irving, TX, Bruce (Teresa) Nicholls of Claremore, OK,  Jill C. Weatherly of Lincoln, NE; five great grandchildren, Tyler and Grant Nicholls of Claremore, Tori, Micah and Laura Nicholls of Irving. Verna is also survived by brothers, C. Harold (Emma) Underwood of Redding, CA and Duane (Shirley) Underwood of Dry Ridge, KY; sisters, Janet Hansen of Harvard, NE and Jean Craig of California; many nieces and nephews.

Mary E. Moore, 95 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Tekamah.

John “Jack” Palmer, 87, of Tekamah NE


John “Jack” Burton Palmer, 87, of Tekamah, passed away, Sunday, January 24th 2016, at Blair Memorial Hospital, with his devoted wife at his side.

Jack Palmer was born February 22nd, 1928, in Tekamah to Lloyd and Alvera (Loftman) Palmer. Jack grew up on his family’s farm and attended rural grade school in Arizona Township. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1945, attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington Missouri and in 1949 graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While at UNL he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He later enlisted in the Marine Corp. On March 12, 1950 Jack married Donna May Blankenship in Tekamah. He was a farmer and hog producer with his brother Jerry and received the Nebraska Pioneer Award for 100 years of continuous family farm ownership. A licensed pilot and passionate fisherman, Jack loved to visit with everyone. Jack always loved telling a good joke and will be remembered for a twinkle in his eye.

Jack was a member of the masonic lodge, and a lifelong, faithful and active member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah. He was a proud and devoted uncle. The community, his friends and family will miss him greatly.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Alvera (Loftman) Palmer and his brother Jerry.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna; sister-in-laws: Jerris Palmer, Claudine Hansen, Gloria Cameron (Brian), Jan Stillman; brother–in-laws: Jim Blankenship (Joan) and Teddy Blankenship (Laura); nieces: Jayne Palmer, Mindy Major (Barry), Sarah Frye (Dave), and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sat., Jan. 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah NE.

Jack Palmer, 87 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska.

Betty Lou Bowden, 92, of Lincoln NE Formerly of Tekamah NE


Betty Lou (Hart) Bowden was born to Roy Lewis and Alma Marie (Hansen) Hart on September 23, 1923 on a farm near Coleridge (Dixon County) Nebraska. She passed away on January 23, 2016 at The Legacy Retirement Community in Lincoln Nebraska.

She attended 1st grade in Dixon County and grades 2 through 8 at Pleasant Hill School in the country near Herman Nebraska. She walked to and from school every day singing all the way. Neighbors would call her mom and tell her that Betty had passed their house. The teacher rode a horse and would sometimes take Betty part of the way home. She attended Tekamah High School grades 9 through 12 graduating with the class of 1941. She lived with a family in town during the week and went home to the farm on the weekends.

During her freshman year of high school, she met William Lester Bowden and they were high school sweethearts. She attended secretarial school in Omaha after graduation. They were married on June 25, 1941 in Shiloh, North Carolina while Bill was stationed in Elizabeth City, North Carolina at the US Coast Guard Air Station.

They returned to Tekamah in 1947 when Bill was discharged from the service. She worked for various insurance companies in the state of Nebraska following Bill’s transfers with NPPD. After retirement in 1981, they purchased a farm near Adams, Nebraska so they could be close to their grandchildren and watch them grow up.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Herman Order of Eastern Star for 60+ years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William R. Hart of Herman.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Bowden of Tekamah, Sharon (Bill) Hitzeman of Lincoln; grandchildren, Ryon (Maggie) Hitzeman of Salina Kansas, Annie (Shawn) Othmer of Tecumseh, Nebraska; great grandchildren, Austin and Olivia Hitzeman, Emma, Sydnie, and Shawna Othmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Thurs., Jan. 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah NE.

Burial is in the Tekamah Cemetery.
